Y o u r Best Sunset Shot

What a gorgeous crop of photos!
Here are 2 of my favorite sunRISES.
Why I love living on a river:

and close to the lake!

I have tons of sunset pics, so will just post 3 that I like.

There's always dust in the air on the Canadian prairie, dust from pickups speeding on dirt roads, dust from heavy equipment scratching the dry dirt in the farmers' fields, dust blown along by the endless howling wind.
Mosquito Sunset

Your eyes are always dry, and you can only take half a breath because of the dusty air. The grit of dust is always on your teeth. You think to yourself, "What kind of a crazy person would live in this country anyway". Then the setting sun shines through the dust.

Then you realize that the compensation for discomfort is beauty. The wild nature of untamed reality. The Canadian Prairie sunset.

In general I seem to have better luck with my Nikons for sunsets, but here are a couple of Sony pics that I particularly like:

Through a faceted vase, from my apartment in Ankara (H1):

From my balcony (H1):

Fraught with problems, but I still like the scene (F717):

I like the layers of distance in the second one and the layers of colour in the sun in the third. Great work, Helen.
Cool thread, Mesh.

It's 3:30 in the morning, I'm listening to the classical music on Guang Dong TV, that goes along with their test pattern and I'm thinking that this #2 looks like a sky piano.
They're all beautiful, jp

Hey, thanks, John! I must admit I still haven't learned to do sunsets very well, so I really appreciate the comments!

All great sunsets that I have seen in this threat.

Here is my try to catch up with a pano. Not free of flaws, but the light and colors were absolutely marvelous that evening.

Taken with DSC-V3.

it's not a sunset either. I underexposed -1 to make this sunrise look like a set but didn't realize that the camera was slightly tilted. Now I have to go back to the beach and try again. (This was taken of the bay at Bradenton Beach FL.)
