Nikon Mount Zeiss Lens To Be Released

"The prices have yet to be released, but are reportedly going to be competitive with their Japanese counterparts."

Who are they kidding? The Zeiss lenses will be made by Cosina in Japan, not by Zeiss in Germany.
one will be an 85 1.4, wonder what they thing will run? a year's
salary? would be great to have one.

Here's B & H's take on it

I've never owned one of these gems but would they really allow the Zeiss name to be stamped on it if it didn't live up to it?

I'll believe that about the price when I see it, then again, these are manual lenses

I'm sure thay will be great BUT $200 Sony PS casm have Zeiss stamped on there lenses.

regards
Ray

with all due respect, Zeiss did whore out their name to Sony...
I wonder what that means to Nikon bodies with Sony sensors ...

(pretty happy with my D200)

Nice try.. but it's apples and oranges.

I never remember Nikon branding "sony sensor!" all over their product boxes.

I do remember Sony pushing their "Zeiss" lenses quite heavily on their P&S cameras. I didn't know much about cameras a few years ago... but now I find the whole thing pretty funny.

I'm glad I held off the Nikkor 85mm f1.4 though.

Check the older threads about late February & early March timeframe.

Speed is significant and interesting but accuracy is downright fascinating

Seems there would be a lot of DSLR cameras that would be impractical to use these manual focus lenses on though, wouldn't you think?

Wait....that was quite a long time ago.....

This is old news...no need for a re-hash :))

They will be very practical. Ask Bjorn. He uses manual focus even with AF lenses.

Remember, these lenses are targeted for a different class of photographers that would more comfortable with manual focussing and that they also carry those DSLRs that have bright and big viewfinders.

Yes, just like the ones that used to come on entry level SLRs!
