I hope it is ok to reference other sites ?

I just saw that Steve's Digicam, http://www.steves-digicams.com/2006_reviews/s3is.html , just released a review of the Canon S3.

I think its worth a read. He basiscally says its a good camera.... a few improvments better than the S2. Has a little CA here and there. 800 iso is noisy but could come in handy.

The dpreview, at this site, is more thorough but Steve's is pretty good too.

I bought the S3 and have been using it for a month now and I love it. I just like to read from the professionals that I made a good decision.

So, if you love your camera and you take nice pictures with it, then all
of a sudden a pro says the camera is no good, do you automatically
change you mind. Please don't take this as an attack but i'm trying to
give you some logic here and to help you think for yourself. YOU are
a proffessional or have the capability to be one. Never discredit yourself.
Make the most of the tool you have at hand.

Here is some more logic if you will. If your wife or whomever made you
a delicous super and a world renouned cheff walks in and takes a bite
and spits it out and says its horrible, do you stop eating because he
says its bad after you agree it was delicous?

Enough, you get my point. I just want you to believe in yourself and
stop discrediting yourself. I see it all to often my friend, and i'm just
trying to point that out. Hope this helps. Cheers....
I just like to read from the professionals that I made a good
decision.

Good point.. But......

I think you are reading WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much into my comment.

My main point of the thread post is that there is another review out there and its worth reading.

OK ; )

Sorry, no harm ment. Thats ok if you haven't bought the camera, but
you already own it, right? No offence please.

Very gentlemanly exchange. I do see Bob's point. However, as a long time highend audio enthusiast and one who has a fairly discerning ear, I still like to see my choices indorsed by the audiophile press. More importantly, I have learned to put more weight in the consensus of consumer impressions.

I have been studying this forum for awhile trying to decide whether to replace my Canon G2 for the S3.

Alas, old news: Message re Steve's review was posted last week. And notification of an SD700 review at Megapixel was posted today.

I try to read all I can. But it is really hard to find a bad review at Steve's site. OTOH, Dpreview, Megapixel and DCResource do find cameras they don't like all that much.

I have to admit I did'nt care too much for the review at Steves. I don't mean it was bad, but like most other reviews I've read there it did'nt help me one way or the other in making a decision. Somehow the reviews here are alot more methological, deep, and scientific. Or then I've been reading dpreviews reviews for too long and it's easier for me to quickly filter out the info I want.
