just on walmarts web site and they have a 7d for 699.00 with lens.
is this a good price??

Yes, the 18-70 kit is a good deal. Their other kit, however, that sells for $900, is a ripoff compared to the kit sold by Adorama and Amazon. The $900 Wal-Mart kit is sold with a mediocre lens while the $900 kit from Adorama & Amazon is sold with a very good lens.

I was going to wait for the the new sony but i realy could not pass
up this. will there be any differance in the 6meg vs.10 that the new sony
has. i now own a sony v-3

The price is great for this caliber of camera. If I didn't just buy a 5D after Xmas I would be picking one of these up, as they were still $1000+ in December. The 7D is a better camera than the new Alpha control wise with a beefier body. The 6 vs. 10 MP is not that great, especially since the first shots shown from the Alpha seem noisier at high ISO than the 7D. The 6mp sensor seems to deliver a cleaner image above 400 ISO. 6 MP is plenty of resolution for great prints up to 13x19 with a sharp lens. I've made several 16x24 prints that people ask me where I bought them from with my 5D, and that was cropped to 5MP.

Just another rookie with a camera
 
I just ordered one of these from Walmart myself. Just a warning, DO NOT pay for extra shipping. I ordered one monday night and added 2-3 day shipping htinking i would get it at the latest during the end of the week, bad mistake. They took 5 days just to process it AND when they shipped it used normal shipping, negating the extra 5 bucks i paid for faster shipping. I mean ya, it's just 5 bucks, but these people are very incompetant apparently.

I took the $5 standard shipping option. I was getting frustrated with the length of time it was being "processed" until I realized that the status turned to "shipping" one day before I got it! Ordered it last weekend, and it was here Friday.

Boy, this is a nice camera, and a joy to use and learn. I thought the A2 had wonderful controls, but this camera takes it to even new heights.

I'm very happy with the purchase, but now I have to learn about lenses, and there are too many options. I did manage to nail a minolta 500mm AF reflex on ebay this weekend, as that is the one lens I new I wanted right away.

what lenses work for this camera??> >
 
Any Minolta A mount lens with a couple of exceptions that you aren't likely to find.
 
All Minolta AF lenses will work. (Maxxum system). Most of Sigma, Tamron, Tokina AF lenses as well. Only 1 cheepy Quantaray 28-90mm I got with Minolta STsi didn't work.... Lens must have metall bearing(contact ring).

I buy used Minolta AF lenses from ebay. Minolta quality lenses are built "like a tank". They are heavy, but what else will you expect from real glass and metall construction?

I currently own
Minolta 17-35mm AF
Minolta 50mm f/1.7 AF,
Minolta 24mm f/2.8 AF,
Minolta 30-70mm,
Minolta 100-300mm xi (AF)

I like each of these lenses for final image quality I get.

Before buying check http://www.photodo.com for particular lens MTF score.
 
For image quality and features this camera offers.

I payed $1350 1 year ago, and I'm extremelly happy with to own and enjoy it. $699 is unbelivable deal....

Default 3.5-5.6 lens is not anything special. But I payed twice more for camera body only!!!!
 
I ordered and received the 7D from Wal-Mart about 3 weeks ago. I used standard shipping and it seemed that the processing took longer than the actual delivery. I guess that I am now glad that I didn't pay extra for faster delivery.......

I am extrememly happy with the 7D. I am still working toward learning all of the controls associated with the 7D. This camear is an upgrade from my 7i and this purchase has also inspired me to dust off my XD11 for shooting film again too......

I also bought the 7d from Walmart.Awesome camera.The 18-70 kit lens wouldnt work with it all.So I put it on the 5D worked fine.Took the 18-70 from the 5D and still would not work on the 7D.

I even shut off the "No lens" still wouldnt work.Cleaned the contacts.Still nothing.All my other lens work on it fine.It is not that big of a deal to me,since I can use it on my 5D.
Just thought it was strange that it wouldnt work with my 7d.

Now just hope Sony comes out with the grip for it.

I got mine from walmart about a month ago. I went through pretty much the same thing with shipping, but after the third or fourth phone call they finally managed to overnight it (about a week after they where supposed to) but they did refunded all of the shipping.
