Is there a way to reduce the power consumption of the P850? I was at Movie World yesterday and I only got about 100 shots fron my battery. With my z7590 doing the same style of photography I was able to get about 200.

I have both AF and IS set to single.

Is it a case that I was using my new battery and it requires a couple of cycles before it gets up to full capacity or do the P850's use more power.

PS. I am REALLY glad I got the P850 because it takes the battery that came with my z7590 and the spare that I bought for it because it seems I will need three battery's.

Only tip I have is to use the EVF instead of the big power-hungry LCD. But my battery life is similar with the P850. Make sure you have the newer KLIC-5001 battery, which is marginally more powerful, i doubt it would be a night and day difference tho.

I actually can't use the LCD for taking photos on my P850 (or the z7590), it just felt weird. I always used the LCD on the old DX4330, looking through the viewfinder just was never right.

Maybe it is a case that the battery needs a couple of cycles before getting up to full charge. Anyway with three battery's I have enough charge for a whole day and I have two chargers and a docking station if all three need doing at once.

I noticed the short life on mine at first but it is doing better after being charged several times.

I bought a KLIC-5001 from Ebay and noticed it lasted twice as long as the one that came with camera.

Sounds about right if there is a lot of wait between pics. I have 4 batteries, 2 Kodak brand and 2 off brand and the Kodaks seem to do much better, especially if I use the screen much at all to check pics.

Yeah, battery life is horrible. Sometimes you need to use the LCD for things like macro's of flowers to use the manual focus and the battery lasts around 80 shots if I'm lucky. I really hate the battery life. is the Canon S2/S3 better at this?

Now I dont know the exact settings of my camera, as i havent looked for a while, but i have a P850, and i have the original kodak battery, along with 2 off-brand batteries. I used my P850 on my vacation, brought all batteries, and was able to take about 400 pics on the single charge one of the off-brand battery (I do get the same life out of the kodak one too) and i AM using the LCD, not the EVF, (the color is just not correct in the EVF), My battery life is great..... infact, my battery will last me almost a week before i either just charge it in the camera, or change it. the one thing that I will say is that i mostly charge my batteries out of the camera in the Kodak bettery charger, I rarely charge the batt. in the camera, myybe that is something????
hope this helps~

With the z7590 I was using the docking station to charge the battery's I now use the charger.

I have to say that on Saturday I had the camera on most of the day and that is completely different than when I went to Wet'n'Wild when I was taking photos all day but in short sharp rapid bursts.
