I need to buy a R1 today or tomorrow.

Does anyone know of a place that has a good price on a R1 but is both safe and reputable?

... Butterfly Photo for about 749. It was a new camera and works great.

They will call you to verify the order, but it is a guise to sell you additional goods. They are very polite about it though and they will take no for an answer. I did cave and get a 3 year warranty...I would have gotten that initially, but I knew they were going to call so I threw the dude a bone and added it when I talked to him.

If you don't mind being contacted, I would recommend them. They are very speedy as well.

Just my 2 cents

I had this dilema a couple of days ago. I read a lot of resellerratings and went with Onecall. The ibuydigitals and butterfly photos I read that they will call you and try to sell. I just wanted to order and not be bothered. Onecall's price was a little more than the others, but I wanted to make sure I got a USA version. I read the other places had grey market. Ordered yesterday and overnighted it. Got it today at 10:30am EST. Very happy.

I've bought three cameras through iBuyDigital.com. Not to be some kind of cheerleader for their cause, but I think the information you report is suspect. Here's my experience:

No calls, no sales pitch, sent me exactly what I ordered, USA distributor product.
Went for the cheapest shipping and received my shipment four days early.

Got mine at Abes, too. $755. They call you and all that, and I bought an 80X 1GB CF card, which I needed and at a good price; a 3 (or was it 5...?) year warranty from Mack; and a set of filters I was going to buy anyway - UV, Polarizer, and Clear, as I recall, (not at home now). I got the whole shebang, with delivery, for $1,003.00 and it was delivered very quickly. Brand new; not open box. US manual, warranty, etc. Makes you wonder about the other outfits selling it for $999. I've bought several cams from Abes. No issues - and they took back a camera I bought from them once, no problem. They're kind-of grumpy, but who cares.

I got mine few weeks ago from dbuys.com and it was delivered as promised. I had requested overnight shipment and they charged $29 for it. The camera itself cost $773. No Tax.
I went with them as they had a good rating, when checked on pricegrabber.com

Good luck with your purchase and enjoy your new R1
