I have begun expermenting with making little film clips with my Z740. It produces .mov files usually show using Apple Quicktime. In one case I had a very nice atmospheric capture of the sounds and images in Union Station. But I bungled the last few seconds of the clip. I'd love to be able to cut the last fes seconds but can't find any software to enable editing the .mov files. Does anyone know where i can get a small film editor for .mov files?

Not much of an solution here, but i also wanted to edit my .mov files in Powerproducer. But PP doesn't recognize movfiles. Now I am looking for a program that will convert mvfiles into mpeg's so i can edit them in powerproducer.

Use Kodak Easyshare that came with camera.

I hate Mov files. I spent all day yesterday downloading programs trying to ind one that would put them on DVD and also to convert to AVI. Did'nt find any that was any good.

This is the best info I've ever received. The speed and ease are astounding. To think I have been downloading with dialup 4,5,7 mb files that don't work.
Whoever developed this is a genius, IMO

John,

I can't get the conversion to work. The resulting .avi file is not playable on anything. I ger a variety of error messages including one thast says necessary compression is not available.

What has to be downlaoded here and in what folders?

You may try using MS Windows Media Encoder 9.

It is free and it can convert .mov to .wmv which can be played in any MS Windows based PC.

It will edit Quicktime file. I really don't like Quicktime (and their files). It was almost a deal-breaker with me. That's one thing I like about my Canon S1 (and other Canon cameras) is that they save movie files as AVI (motion jpeg). I could edit those with Windows Movie Maker.

In the opposite, I like Kodak's MPEG4 which is three to four times smaller in size but of the same video quality. MotionJPEG is an outdated technology.

I can edit/join/separate any .mov or .mp4 files very very efficiently and easily and make them into a DVD-R and let them play in DVD players.

I use Ulead Movie Factory 3 and QuicktimePro7.

I can also use WME9 to convert any .mov file to .wmv formats and let them play in any computers.

I won't suggest anyone to adopt motionJPEG for their video chips keeping.

Just for your information.
