I really can't believe it. After only a month of using my DL the build in flash exploded with a very loud bang. I send it in right away and now after 10 weeks I still haven't back my camera. I can't get a replacement and I can't get my money back. Every week I inform about the status of my camera but all I hear is that they need some part thats on order. I can't believe it takes that long to repair a camera. BTW I ordered it via Redcoon in The Netherlands. Anyone has experience with Pentax repair jobs in The Netherlands?

I am afraid experience with Pentax repair jobs might not be very usefull as per april first the service desk of Pentax in Breda is closed and all repairs are now done by De Beukelaer in Belgium.

If service is carried out by them it might be due to some tansition problem. 10 weeks is too long however. I once had to wait for parts that had to be shipped from the factory and that (including repair) took 6 weeks.
(And from what I've been told the Beukelaer is good too).

However, I am a bit confusewd about redcoon. Their site says that you have to contact them for repair. This might sugest grey-import, which implies that service has to be carried out in the country where redcoon got it.

This used to happen to the DS fairly regularly. I have only seen 1 DL do it. The DL had only been out about a month. My friend sent it in and it took about 7 weeks to return. My DS has a bad flash but I have never bothered to send it in. I just turned the builtin flash off and kept shooting. When the 10mp body debuts I will send the DS in for repair. I recently had another friend plug her DS in to the wrong ac adapter! Camera went in and was fixed in warranty. It came back in 2 weeks. She rewarded Pentax by buying a backup DL kit ( would have bought a DS2 if available). These repairs were all done in the US. I hope your camera gets back soon. Pentax really is easy to work with compared to some of the big companies. Hang in there.
thanks

Thanks for your replies. Today I contacted Redcoon through their liveperson's chatline and I was told that it was on its way. I should receive it tomorrow. Let's hope so! I don't think it's grey import. When I first contacted them I received two replies. One was to contact pentax.nl and the other one to send the camera in with their pickup service. I choose the pickup service.

That is good news!

Yes, you are right, if they told you to contact pentax.nl I doubt it is grey import.

But if you chose the redcoon pick up, well, I think that might explain another week. I mean, they won't frve from your house straight to Pentax. Has to go to Redcoon and there they order the pick up from Pentax. And the extra weeks are probably due to the transition-period.

Now the bad news. with this hard sunlight we have now, it is very hard to take good outdoor pics. And outdoorpics means going outdoors... Take plenty of water!!!
(Or you have to wait until late in the evening, but it stays hot!)
