Who has some good F1000 bounce flash shots I can see. I am going to buy one but want to make sure this camera is good in this department. My Pro90 did great at this and I would think the Sony would be better. Comments welcome too.--Steven

Well I don't have that flash yet, but I have been able to bounce the F707's onboard flash with success:

Nice shot. I will have to try it your way. Whats your settings when you bounce with the cardboard. I assume flash is set to high.

I have the 1000 bounce flash and am very happy with it. It turns on automatically when connected to the camera, and the camera automatically knows it's there, which is convenient, no messing about with camera settings.

The difference in photos is stunning, no shadows behind people, and much more even lighting. I generally keep the flash set to 'low' with it for indoor shots, and keep the diffuser pulled down.

It does often add a slight yellow cast to photos, but not directly because of the flash, but because most ceilings are not true white, so the light gets colored a bit.

For ~$100 it's a no-brainer, in my opinion.

I am at work, and don't have any examples to post (or a place to post them, I'll set up a pbase account tonight).

Steven,

The external flash does do a great job of bouncing.

Do be aware that the external flash on the 707 does not compensate for different apertures. On mine it appears to be optimised for F2.0 and low ISO.

I can't get to pbase or i would have posted them again. I also have some from this weekend to compare to last month in our friends house. Stunning difference!

Ted,

I've noticed this also. And since I usually like to take indoor flash shots in manual mode with a higher aperture value for increased depth of field, I've compensated for this by taping a piece of paper over the sensor to fire a stronger flash. Works like a charm!
