There's just one little tiny thing that bothers me about this picture: the girl on the left looks a little too pale or washed out (even though the one on the right looks better). This is a problem because of the very different skin tones here. Is there a way to maybe at least darken up the lips of the girl on the left so she doesn't look so awfully pale? K.

Just for you Brian...

Hi Koo, yeah she is white to the max... The other girl olive.

Bad choice of clothing also, going to try and make some B&W's so its not a total loss. I really like what bart did, unfortunatly it still wont print..

Bought a great book, 30 minutes into it I came up with this.

http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1403846&a=14090804&p=57280849

Its writen for color dummies like me, I'm not done, but at least their clothes are the right colors..

:)

Restoration and Retouching by Katrine Eismann ( ive learned more in 30 minutes than all the other books I own combined..

Brian,

I used the LASSO TOOL to outline (tightly) the girls and then "inversed" the selection. Then Used the Feather tool set at about 5 pixels... next I choose the Gaussian Blur... next used the LASSO TOOL and outlined the girls again (but this time way out away from them). Selected inverse again... Feathered the selection with a setting of about 20 pixels... and then used the Gaussian Blur again.

Nothin to it. :-)

No not all the time, many factors, if the strobes are 1-3 feet it should nock out the ambient light. If they are back farther your lens is doing its job collecting all the ambient light it sees. I measure all sources of light and block them out or change temps to fit. When out on location I have portable blocking set ups and or corrective film for the windows. Many ways to change a temp at the scene. This is how you get to charge the big bucks $$$, the more equipment you put up to get the perfect exposure and impress the customers.(GRIN, GRIN...) All the stuff is portable and takes another 15 minutes to setup and will save PS work in printing. Calmuet has some nice reflectors and blockers, or make your own from PVC pipes. Good shooting.

There's just one little tiny thing that bothers me about this
picture: the girl on the left looks a little too pale or washed
out (even though the one on the right looks better). This is a
problem because of the very different skin tones here. Is there a
way to maybe at least darken up the lips of the girl on the left so
she doesn't look so awfully pale? K.
The face of the girl on the left needs to be isolated with the pen tool in Photoshop ... the entire face softened, then the eyes sharpened, also the lips shapened and darkened very slightly, and the skin tone brought up to not be so stark against the other girl. Finally ... tight crop the entire image. Results ... :-)

I like it, except for the eyes...

lol, keep at it, you guys got all the cool tricks down. I like it much better.

This will give you the correct colors of the clothing. You already know about this book i'm sure, but Restoration and Retouching my Katrin Eismann is great. I heard about it, bought it and bam within 30 minutes I got the color of the clothing nailed. sigh.. now for the fun stuff..
I have yet to learn the background tricks and stuff, maybe next year :)
