I have an adapter that I bought in Taiwan (the photo shop said it was made for Olympus digital cameras and I've used them on both of my cameras and they work fine). The output is DC6.5V / 2.2A. Hope this helps!--Tome http://www.pbase.com/lyx17

The AC adapter is the most useless thing I ever bought. In my opinion you will be way ahead buying a card reader and more rechargable batteries with that money.

I agree TOTALLY! The only thing I can think of using it for is
watching a lot of photos on the TV screen.

The reason I use one is that I currently have an older computer that doesn't have USB. It takes a couple of hours to download photos from a 64mb card. I even had to make my own serial cable, since the 2100 didn't come with one!

I agree that if you have USB and a card reader, there wouldn't be a need for the adapter.

Why not add USB to your computer with an add-on card? You would need Win98 however. USB is soooo much faster!

I can almost see doing that. Maybe on a trip, sharing photos with friends? Then again, if you limit the "slide show" to the length a set of batteries will last, they won't be running away next time I visit :-).

So, as a rookie "Club UZi" member - do you all have membership cards or somethin'? :-) - should I not bother installing the Oly drivers on the 'puter, and go straight for the USB reader?

I was thinking of mail ordering the SanDisk reader from NewEgg, but the price with shipping is more than the price w/tax at the local BestBuy :-(. I thought I saw some place that had a memory card/free reader combo, but I can't find it lately.

Popularity seems to be favoring the Zio just slightly over the SanDisk? Can both be (relatively) easily hacked to provide the Olympus panorama feature on non-Oly cards?

I'm trying to prioritize my accessory purchases here. Thanks for the help!--- ArvedKF4UCQOly UZi Newbie

Get the Zio. There seems to be some problem getting the drivers for the new Windows version with San Disk.

I guess we will have to develop a membership card that is attractive. And then there's caps, and who knows what? --Juli

I've had an Oly AC adapter that I have used with 3 Oly's so far, and I like it. Where I find it useful is when I take pics of stuff that I sell on ebay. I just leave the cam plugged into the AC adapter and shoot away. I have a SM reader on my HP printer, but it seems to hate me. I find it's quicker to just connect the Oly to the pc and have it plugged into the AC to download the pics.

Other than that.. I have't found much use for it.

I have several computers, and had an external SM reader for one, but gave it to my bro when I sold him my 400Z. (It worked fine.) I have a PCMCIA SM reader for my laptop that I LOVE.. works great (especially with Windows XP).

So.. it all depends on what you will be using it for. But, you really should add a USB card to your pc. Those aren't expensive at all.

Hmmm.... The Zio is tougher to find locally. Is this a problem with "Good ol'" Win98SE?

I'm not a "ball cap" kind of guy. I'm more a straw hat kind of guy. A lot more ventilation and sun protection in Florida's bright sun :-).

Thanks for your help Juli,

I didn't know they had them. How much are they? If they worked with
Win98, they should also work with ME, right?
