Do you shoot flash with hood on?

it seems to me that a hood would block the flash somewhat, especially if you are using a UWA lens. Also, since the lens hood is meant for keeping the direct sunlight off of your lens, I don't see much reason to keep it on other than a little protection.
 
Otherwise, I leave it on.

I only have one lens that matches yours -- 50mm -- and neither the built-in flash nor the external flashes hit it.

I take the hood off my 24-135 when it's set at wide angle settings.

I take the hood off our 24-70 f2.8 with built-in flash. Never used it with an external flash. probably fine to leave the hood on.

Hoods are to prevent glare, but also to protect lenses when you do things like bend over so the camera swings forwrd into the concreate railing in front of you.

1. I never shoot with onboard flash

2. I never shoot with Canon hoods - much preferring screw-in hoods

3. I ALWAYS have a hood on for physical protection as well as protection from flare (the sun is not the only light source which will cause flare.)
