Was at a park again and someone showed me the wasp nest, and wow, first time saw a large one! Abt 20 wasps there and several larvae in the nest.

First few shoots with dark brown BG, but later handheld a leaf behind to get a nicer BG.

Manage to take some caterpillars, but turn out bad. Took a water drop on it though!

FZ10+6T+Sigma CU, ISO50, F8, 1/60s, EXT bounce flash
A610+reverse 50mm lens, ISO50, F8, 1/125s. EXT OB flash

Appreciate your comments! Will be away for a week so pardon me if I do not reply promptly.
  1. 1: Coming out. (A610)

  1. 2: On Guard duty (FZ10)

  1. 3: Change of Guards.....and flag raising at the BG (raising a leaf...heh heh...) (FZ10)

  1. 4: Caterpillar's World in a drop (FZ10)

Wow, I hope you are being careful and not taking unnecessary risks to life and limb (if wasps swarm there like they do elsewhere in Asia (Japan for example), but that aside, impressive, incredible, inspiring...
(You are the M of M)...

Ya sure know how to build to a big finish.... Things got better as I scrolled... Not that the 1st weren't any good....

really great macros like always, but I'd like to know what your thoughts are behind switching between the FZ10 and the A610 for your macro shots? Does the A610 give you a better DOF or some other advantages?

I will have to get some pics.....I would leave them BUT THEY CHOSE MY CARPORT..........I hate destroying nature. It is life......great pics.

You nuts! Those things could do you serious harm! Hehe...awesome pics dude. Am so proud to be part of the Lumix family. Thanks to you, I can now admire at close range those beautiful wasps -- they really are gorgeous creatures...sleek!

Thanks for the pics.

What no jumpers :)

Great wasp pics, but I love the water drop shot, how big were they, got this guy last year and it was 2 inch for the body only, leaving off the head, legs, wings etc

Well, the A610+reverse lens has higher mag rates, but shorter working distance. While the FZ has lesser mag rates and further WD.

So depending on what I want to achieve, I will use the appropriate camera.

Sometimes, I use the FZ10 first, before moving in with the A610 in case I disturb the subjects if I use the latter camera first.
