Anybody want to talk about the areas that the CD1000 spanks the 707?

Well, let me tell one thing. I've had a 505, a 505v and now a
707...... the original camera I got in December of '99 took better
shots than the cd1000..... not to mention a whole hell-of-a-lot
faster. How long is write time on that noisy cd-r???? Oh, but you
know what, you're got that 10x optical zoom on there. Maybe if it
weren't so big you could get closer to the action. And speaking of
action, you're more likely to get some w/ a 707 rather than that
big old oalf of a SLR-like.... key word... LIKE thing you're using.
Didn't anyone tell sony the FD-95's looked ugly and should maybe
have changed the design of it before making the cd-1000?
Uhmmm, Justin..........it's all a joke man. Wear looser underware from now on. Lighten up.
And BTW, we don't seriously "bash" each other's cameras around here.
You need a lesson on being an STF member.
One more thing about zoom.... Using the both cameras taking the
same shot at full zoom, with the 707 I can digitally crop the scene
and it'll still turn out better then yours
No you can't. You also need to learn about optical zoom. Perhaps if you did a search on Figure of Merit you would understand that with twice the zoom I can still put 2MP on the subject. You, with half the zoom and then cropping (Can you say "digital zoom"), cannot put 2MP on the subject.

Now enjoy your camera. It's a beaut.

Hey thanks Uly!
I thank you, my camera thanks you,... but you have not followed the
lead of the other posters with your mention of the noses....
Well, you know me. I dare to go where few Dark Angels tread. :))
Geeze. You must have to leave the room and back in to turn around
with that thing!
I'll admit, it does make doing a 5-point turn difficult. -- Ulysses

Well, I for one, am ready to let this thread die. We even attracted a newbie who thought it was for real.....

But I had fun and so did others, Sometimes we get TOO serious around here. It's just a camera....albeit the finest camera available for the price.
But yeah, IS is a big, big deal.

As to the 707 IS, I wish that 707 had it.

You just know a very high percentage of the folks are going to put a 1.4 or 1.7 tele on it. Some will try a 2X.

It's gonna be tripod time for many. Nothing really wrong with that, but I've been spoiled and do not care to carry a tripod around in the swamp.

But If I had been a participant in their External Specification meetings and Engineering told me that the addition of IS was gonnas cost us a couple of hundred dolaars and/or take us over the target price of $999, I would have voted against it.
The 707 has contributed mightily to the Digicam busines with it's many features.
But perhaps it's biggest contributions was, and is, Value.
