Although I process every image I share(via internet,or print),here's an ORIGINAL from the FZ7 ,in Tele Macro mode,at full zoom.

Simply resized it to 720 x 540 ....nothing else.

Just thought I'd share it,showing the 'RAW' version of the noisy FZ7(so they say)

And it has some.
But does it take away from the shot?
Does it rob the image of detail?
Of Color?
Void capturing the moment,the feeling?

Of course this shot is at ISO80,but still....

Info:

Shutter- 1/100th
Aperture- F4.5
WB- Auto
ISO- 80
Spot Metering
Spot focus

Pict Adjustments:
Contrast STD
Sharpness LOW
Saturation STD
Noise Reduction LOW

Tele Macro at 72mm(432mm)
Tripod used

With shots like this,it's so easy to turn out decent shots, with the FZ line
!!

Loving Tele Macro mode more than ever !!!

Take the pic. We got things to protect u from.

No, it does not ruin the shot, it makes for a nice evening shot.

This is the type of noise that cleans up easily as shown below. I did a little PP on your image but removed the noise only from the background.

Well, put it up here at full size so we can really see it, will you? At this size ANYTHING looks great.

the shot below is also straight from the camera and I think it looks pretty good.

Focal Length: 6mm (36mm 35mm)
Exposure Time: 0.002s (10/5000)
JPEG Quality: fine
Flash: Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode
Exposure Program: Aperture priority

Below is the link for those wishing to view in "original" size -- the entire gallery is straight from the camera.

Two great flower shots - never thought I'd be that interested in photography - or more particularily that interested in photographing flowers!!!

thanks for posting

Beautiful collection of flower shots in your gallery, mary sue; very neat and well composed. What PQ level (sharpness, noise etc.. ) have you set your camera to? All at default? Do you believe manual white balance works better than auto in these cases?

Just the points I wanted to say, ANAYV. Excellent job. This example just goes to prove the kind of qulaity of work you can get from an FZ. In the final analysis, it is the photographer's imagination and composition that sets the standards.

Thanks for looking at the gallery!

I use the same settings as ANAYV:

Contrast STD
Sharpness LOW
Saturation STD
Noise Reduction LOW

I set the White Balance on Cloudy all the time which records as "manual" in the exif -- a tip from Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Exposure" which I just finished reading ....

It does all the work for me.....really!

Nice job,Kate!

What program?
Did you use a lasso,or similar,to select only the background?

Thanks

True....but I'll have to post another one,as posting a full size original is like giving someone your negative.

I'll find one I don't like, and post a link with the full size image

I never knew I was a flower child
:> )

I think me likes the colors

that was a good shot. I played with it a bit, myself, in pshop.
was able to completely kill the noise (down to slr levels) and also
add more pop to the image.

that was a good capture ;)
Thanks,Bryan.

Did you remove noise over the whole image,or just the background?

I find many times, only the background needs noise removal, and the subject seems fine

Well said,kunal !

I use Paint Shop Pro X. I used the Magic Wand tool with "contiguous" checked off. I selected all of the green and other areas around the flower. Make sure you click "contiguous" or the wand will also pick up the green in the flower itself.

Then I ran the noise reduction tool twice to make the background nice and smooth.

Your image was an excellent candidate for removing just the background noise, all that was needed here IMHO. The flower was fine.
