The CD1000 beats the F707 in weight:

980 grams to the DA's 667 grams (that's 34.6 oz to 23.5 oz for us Yanks). -- Ulysses

heheheheh...

You know what they say: "Might makes right..." ;-)
Wow!
I didn't expect a 707 owner to come up with the first one.
Yessir, more roadholding weight.
MUCH more stable platform,
Well That's one! Thanks Uly!-- Ulysses

The CD1000 spanks the 707 huh? Hmmmmmmmmm.

I bought the DSC F-707 on October 16. I haven't taken a shot with my CD1000 since that day. Looks like the 707 wins anyway.

When I first bought the CD-1000 I really liked the size but since I've become so used to the 707 I get the feeling I'm picking up something the size of a truck evertime I pick up the 1000. It's all in what you get used to I guess but sadly, I think my CD1000 will probably saty in the nice warm camera bag most of the winter.

Other than the storage media...not a thing. Nice to be able to store right to the CD-R. Now...if the 1000 was as fast as the 707, and if it had the great manual focus that the 707 has and if it had the great view finder that the 707 has and if.......

Gee, my 1000's been on the shelf for about six weeks also. Something has to keep my two year old 505 company.

The CD1000 owners hardly ever post, so maybe they are too busy taking pictures, that could be a spank?!?!
Or maybe they are waiting in line at the store to buy more CD-R's?!?!
Or maybe they are waiting for the Image to burn to CD?!?!
Or maybe they don't find enough enjoyment out of their camera's to post?!?!

The possibilities are endless, maybe someone with a CD1000 could post something.--Shay http://f707.shay.ws

I'm gonna give you credit for 2!
The CD1000 is, quite obviously) a better Backup camera!
And it excells at keeping your camera bag from collapsing!
We are up to 7 ways the CD1000 is better!

Well you had me worried Andrew......the storage media has alteady been counted....but then you came thru!

The CD1000 cuts down on the amount of shelving that has to be dusted...that's 8!

And outs the Blue (sorry, didn't mean that ;.)..........comes #9...the PERFECT companion for THE KING!

  1. 10! Absolutely!

THey are in the short line. The one that says CASH ONLY-Under $1-! (did you know you could buy 6 Gigabyte! of storage in that line!
Gotta give you #11!
Or maybe they are waiting for the Image to burn to CD?!?!
What! Why didn't I think of that! 707 owners have to buy a CD and go thru mmany more manual steps to create......the BACKUP of their photos! Way to go Shayster! That's #12!
Or maybe they don't find enough enjoyment out of their camera's to
post?!?!
You call the majority of the 707 posts.......enjoyment!???

I really don't know how you meant this...I don't see how I can give you a point......
OH! I got it! You sly devil!
Point #13 in favor of the CD1000 because it works just like they said it would!
The possibilities are endless, maybe someone with a CD1000 could
post something.

ED! (you don't mind if I don't use your last name do you!
I always mispell it!)
Well, Homer, got to give you credit for positive thinking. You
aren't in the advertising biz perchance?

NO. But I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night!

And BTW, THANKS for #14!

You don't see the STF completely overwhelmed with "advertisments" from it's owners!
That's FOURTEEN different areas that the CD1000 SPANKS the 707!

Yay for the CD1000 !!! It's my hero!

I'd like to vote it for Camera of the Year award. It came from behind and won by four noses. Four 900 gram noses. :)-- Ulysses

Hey thanks Uly!

I thank you, my camera thanks you,... but you have not followed the lead of the other posters with your mention of the noses........the noses.........

Hey! Let's measure NOSES!
Lessee now....

The CD1000 with a very clasic proboscus comes in at 4.8 Inches!
Boy that's embarrasing. :> (
This thing is BIG.
Course it is a SLR-LIKE camera as rated by P. Askey.
But still, that is one big nose.
It looks bad for the BA (Big Angel).

Oh well, just to finish up the contest against the COMPACT 707 as rated by P. Askey.
WHAT THE?
The nose, the proboscus, the nostril extention of the 707 is 6.4 inches!!!
This thing is huge! Largest nose I've ever seen.
What a HONKER!

WOW!
Another win for the BA!!!!
Thanks Uly!

Without you I would have thought that all of the advantages of the CD1000 would have been found!

Geeze. You must have to leave the room and back in to turn around with that thing!

I do believe we have hit 15 areas that the CD1000 spanks the 707!
Wow.
I am humbled. (Well, almost.)

Homer & the BA.

Fun?
You think this is being done for fun!?
This is about BFS! The CD1000 has had BFS, LONG before there even was a 707!
My BFS (Big Fun Syndrome) started 14 months ago when I bought the thing ;.)

Well, let me tell one thing. I've had a 505, a 505v and now a 707...... the original camera I got in December of '99 took better shots than the cd1000..... not to mention a whole hell-of-a-lot faster. How long is write time on that noisy cd-r???? Oh, but you know what, you're got that 10x optical zoom on there. Maybe if it weren't so big you could get closer to the action. And speaking of action, you're more likely to get some w/ a 707 rather than that big old oalf of a SLR-like.... key word... LIKE thing you're using. Didn't anyone tell sony the FD-95's looked ugly and should maybe have changed the design of it before making the cd-1000?

One more thing about zoom.... Using the both cameras taking the same shot at full zoom, with the 707 I can digitally crop the scene and it'll still turn out better then yours
