My wife folded seat in minivan while the camera was on that seat with mounted kit lens. The lens was facing up. I though that's it.

To my surprise nothing was broken or bent. Lucky me.

P.S. When she did it I only had camera for 3 days :)

hi all,
I am looking forward to buying a Pentax DLSR. The motivation being
built in SR,
AA batteries
Price
Bigger VF.
bigger sensor
I am only looking for a replacement on my Pro1. So I think I will
be happy with just 2 lens(or if I could find one decent lens). And
if the body is fine enough then I guess it will be more than a
replacement.

But lately I saw a couple of threads where people have been asking
the question like 'How many of you had pentax broken for no reason
etc. etc."
and there were quite a few responses.

So just wanted to rephrase the question in a positive way and see
which one has more responses.
*ist D for over two years, no problems whatsoeve.

I have had both my istD's fail for the same reason: the printed circuit board. It affects the onboard flash and the battery meter reading.

Both were sent back to Pentax Canada. Both were fixed properly. Both haven't had a single problem since.

Would I buy another istD? In a heartbeat. (Although I am holding out for the new high-end model.)

The istD was (and still IS, by the way) a top camera for semi-pros; that's why I own two of them.

The only camera that would tempt me to replace my entire system is the Canon 5D, and even then, Canon has nothing like the Pentax 77 Limited lens. (I shoot a lot of headshots.) All my Canon friends are still VERY envious of this lens.

No problems (touch wood).

Complaints and mentions of problems seem to be far less with Pentax DSLRs than the other forums I visit. My DS has been going great for almost 18 months without problems of any kind. I have complete confidence in it.

Yes, there are those few situations where users' just seem to have "dogs". Obviously, these are the most vocal complaints, but they really don't occur very often. It can and does happen to any electronic product, or cars, or appliances, or anything else you can think of.

Frequent or common failures are not a problem with these cameras.

My DS has been perfect and it has not been babied in any way. It has been on numerous trips were I would consider the conditions hard on photographic equipment (water, humidity, dust, mud). On one of these trips my prosumer C*non bit the dust.
