One simple CS2 trick

Hold "alt" while shifting the end point(s) of the level control and you can see what is saturated or clipped.

Hold "alt" while in the curve control and move the eyedropper around. The measured point will be will be shown on the curve.

1. Create a new layer, and fill it with median gray (shift-backspace).

2. Change the blending mode to overlay. It becomes invisible.

3. Doubleclick on the right side of that layer, and a Layer Style dialog box pops up.

4. Check the Pattern Overlay box, and again set the blend mode (within this box) to Overlay blend mode.

5. Now, click the down arrow on the pattern box to select your pattern. Look for patterns that are close to median gray.

6. (while in step 5) If you don't see a pattern you like, click the right pointing triangle and load some new patterns.

CTRL+ALT and + or - to make the image windows resize together with the zoom, up to the maximal available area.

You have CTRL+0 for the fit-zoom, and CTRL+ALT+0 for the 100% zoom.

When clicking on the trash bin to remove a layer, ALT-click removes the layer without a confirmation dialog. Handy to trash several layers quickly.
