small poll: which RAW/NEF editor do you use?

I use Nikon Capture for the same reasons you noted plus you can link directly to PS CS2 from NC so it really doesn't cause me any slowdown in my PP.

I bought Aperture about 2 weeks ago because it offers both, great sorting abilities and excellent conversions (since new version 1.1.1). I even don't care, that it holds all my files in one library. After all the rumour about Capture NX, I am also looking forward to try it out. My dream would be, that Aperture would offer the option to convert a special NEF file in Capture NX and re-import it to Aperture (with all the settings of NX), just like it does with Photoshop.

Kind regards,
Thorsten

ACR, CS2, performance and full and tested functions. The professional graphic program.

Nikon Capture, because:
  • you can modify the (following) recorded Nikon in-camera settings:
  • exposure - sharpening - tone compensation - colour mode - saturation
  • colour adjustment.
  • Extensive tweaking capability:
  • White-balance (Kelvin or Grey-point)
  • curves
  • colour selectable LCH adjustments: lightness, saturation and hue.
  • the use of saved actions (sets) and saved individual adjustment values
  • excellent results
neutral:
  • D-Lighting does it for bringing up detail in shadows, but slows the program down. Here I prefer the PS Shadows/Highlight adjustment (easy, better and very fast)
negative:
  • Nikon noise reduction stinks: slows down the program a lot and creates
the infamous 'plastic-looks' (Nikon this is the wrong path...)
