Hi there,

I bought a Sandisk 2 GB card and I am using it with my Canon sd700 IS, My problem is that I am having a great problem with my Dell 700m Laptop which happens to have an internal SD reader. The laptop refuses to read the card, it shows it as either not formated or the computer hangs up. That said, I hooked the camera directly to the computer and I was able to download the pictures this way. I know I will have to test the card on a different coomputer, I was posting to see if anone else encountered any problems with this card, or card camera combo. My laptop won't even me allow to format the card. Intresting enough, I was having trouble with the seagate 8 GB MD, I am starting to think it might be my computer. Any ideas?

Hi Labib,

I too have the same problem. I have a Lexar 133x 2g SD card for my D50. I have tried to download through my Compaq notebook which an internal 5 card reader and the notebook cannot recognise the SD. I need to download the card through the Lexar external card reader provided with the card.

Hi there,

I finally found out what I needed, after few google attempts i stumbled on a Dell 700m discussion group. Apparently all the 700m series have the same problem, can not read an SD card over 1GB,Dell and Texas Inst (the manufacturer of the PCI chipset have been stonewalling, anyway, a resourceful person found a newer driver released by TI to Packard-Bell (out of all people) they used the PB driver and installed it on the Dell, and Voila. Well I tried the same and guess what, my internal SD reader now reads 2 GB SD card, it is such a shame that one person has to go through all this trouble, you'd think Dell and Ti would have addressed this issue from the get go. Thank God to all those good samaritan on the net. I do not know if you're chipset is manufactured by TI, if so you may be able to use the same driver.
