Hi folks,
Has anyone tried these custom cut sheets for the 6900 from
http://www.purplemoo.com .
All comments from your experience are appreciated. Are these any
better than the Fellowes WriteRight Palm Protective Screen sheets.
I have been using the Fellowes ones( which work great on my Palm),
but make the 6900 LCD a little grainy. They are still worth it. I
strongly believe prevention is better than cure.
Thanks,
Vivek
The moos on my 6900 looks clear and transparent. Fortunately, it
doesn't make the display look grainy as it has a smooth surface.
There is however a very very slight loss in brightness when you
first put them on. After awhile, it becomes "clearer" and the
brightness is ok when the sticker sets in. Looking at the way it
goes, a single sheet should safely lasts a year and more.
The sticker does not feel like it has glue, either that or it is
extremely mild. I prefer that as it makes the sticker easy to peel
off and in case you pasted it incorrectly, you are able to
reposition it. I had once tried using a brand of Palm protector for
about 2-3 months (trim it to shape myself as it doesn't come
pre-cut) and it left a blotch of glue on the display screen when I
peel it off to change (some stubborn dirt got trapped on its rough
grainy surface). Rubbing the glue away took quite an amount of
effort and I feared it may scratch the screen. So, kerosene was
used to effectively remove the glue easily.

Thanks Alfred, appreciate your response & time. Is this new sheet
scratch resistant & glare resistant though.

Alfred,
Thanks for the feedback on the moos -- one more question, since
they have you specify your camera, I'm assuming that this means
that the moos are already cut to fit the 6900 LCD screen -- right??

It is pretty scratch resistant. I haven't got any scratches
throughtout my normal use yet. I believe like all makes of
plastic/material, given time, anything hard, sharp or rough can
scratch it. It has less glare than the display screen itself and
more importantly it doesn't cause the display to look grainy (or
moire patterns). Generally it looks pretty much like without the
protector (pretty transparent) and after a while when the protector
sets in, you won't notice it at all. Also as pointed out by the
purplemoo people, the protector is specially designed for LCD
screen and as such, the material, especially the glue is compatible
with those screens and does not cause damage even if left on for
more than a year.
I've shown my friends the camera and all of them didn't notice it
until told.
Having seen WrightRights on my friends' camera and having used some
brands of protection (screenface or something similar, can't recall
but the one that leaves a blotch of glue on my screen!) I'll be
using the moos for my current and future camera.
