Can you use 1600 mAh NIMH in the Canon S3 lS camera? I see there are 2500 in a review I read, but was curious if the 1600 could be used in lieu of, or if place of in a crunch.

Thanks,

Ellen

The mAH rating of batteries is an indication of how long they will supply enough power to run your camera. The higher the number, the longer the camera will run.

I had bad luck with 1600 mah nimh in Canon flash units. Switched to 2500's and it was night and day difference. 2500's are also a smidge larger (measure them with a micrometer), recycle faster, and last longer. I don't have experience with them in cameras, but I would expect some significant differences.

My local Sam's Club is selling the Energizer 2500mah AA batteries (4pack) for $9.81. Which is an awesome deal for these great batts.

If you've got a Sam's membership it's highly recommended to pick these up.

Thanks for all the good information. I will be using the 2500 instead of the 1600 for sure.

Yes, I do have a Sams club, but I have to drive 50 miles to get there. Wonder if they have them on line. Will check.

Thanks again,

Ellen

The ONLY difference should be that the 1600s should last only 64% as long as the 2500s. Any other difference means that they were not properly conditioned to capacity or were faulty. Because AA rechargeables are made by so many companies, some not that good, you run more risk of getting bad ones.
