First of all.. the autofocus is ten times better then on my 350D. Now i can acually use my 400 F/5.6L plus Tamron 1.4x TC and autofocus on birds in flight without any problem.. that wasnt to easy with the 350D.

Second.. the LCD is seksi! Its superb compared to 350D LCD.

Third: The build.. having this camera in my hand gives it a more REAL seriouse feeling while the 350D felt more like a plastic toy.

The way the buttons are placed and functions.. is alot more easy and user friendly then 350D.

Alot more.. have to think about it and give it a few more days.. But i can tell you that the feeling of owning this camera is great :)

Why not get the 20D for a good $300 cheaper?

im going through decision making process also right now so looking for input.

I thought Danny said 350D does better than 20D focusing with a minimal aperture?

20D is supposed to have the edge when you go wider than 2.8.

Anyways.. good it is working out for you.

Larger LCD and spot-meter probably worth $300, unless you're on a budget -- then stick to 350D.

That is a fair point. For me the decision is wether strech the budget $400 to get the 20D or get the 350D. For me personally, the bigger lcd and spot meeting is worth the $300 in savings.

It's hurting me to look, it's a veritable noise factory, oh hang on no it isn't.

Sorry all had a lousy day at work and couldn't resist, cracking pics, well impressed with the lens clarity too.

Tell me did you shoot them with the special 'shoot without noise' button :)

Oooooh naughty me.

Regards,

Mike

The paradox of photography is that it is both simple and complicated in its nature, in that success is achieved through a combination of technique and personal vision. A zest for life leads us as photographers to discover what truly exists in the world around us. Photography is a reflection of life’s energy. Using a camera, we transmit our feelings, thoughts, and dreams in the form of images. Life’s stages and interests are documented and revealed in our photography.

lol yeye.. 350XT is a fine camera, we all know that.
But its a giant step to the 30D in build quality.
Now you have a real camera and not a plastic toy ?

One more thing.

The 350D and 30D share the same sensor. With that fact i wasnt expecting better pictures out of the camera.

But the thing im seeing looking through pictures from today is that i have ALOT more keepers. Better quality over all of my shoots straight out of the camera.. This is a good thing indeed ^^

That one always makes me laugh...

All the time these people have their 350D they constantly tell everyone it's the best thing since sliced bread....The day after they get their new camera the 350D gets relegated to a "plastic toy" status.

Not sure how 30D AF is better with 400mm f5.6 than 350D , i read here that both are about same , if there is difference maybe i will make same decision as you did , but i am not sure as only thing that bothers me with 350d is auto focus...

all best
