Is it normal to see vertical line on the EVF & LCD when taking picture in low light condition ? I took a picture of a 3 wicks christmas candle and 3 vertical lines from top to the bottom of the EVF & LCD appear at the light source. I tried pointing the camera in different lighting conditions and it only happened when there is an extreme contrast between the light source and the dark background. Has anyone noticed it or I got myself a defective camera ?

In my experience, this has nothing to do with low light, but with light sources, be it the sun or, as in your case, candles, visible within the picture. The pictures taken don't suffer from the same phenomenon, so it's not really a problem.

I've seen this on my 69 also. It doesnt carry over into saved image. As was said.. seems to be a bright light source/high contrast situation that effects the EVF/LCD only

The same happens in my 6900. I supose that this are reflecions of lights, but as You don't have them on the pictures I just ignore them.

Happened on mine too. But like the others, I could not be bothered by it since it does not appear in the saved pic. Regards.

ps: love this forum, learning more and more each day and loving my 6900 more each day too.. way to go..

To all,

Good to know that my 6900 is AOK since those vertical lines are visible in all our cameras. This must be overlooked by Fuji's engineers. Case close and no anomally found.

Thank you,

This is a result of a bright highlight producing an excess voltage in the CCD elements, which then bleeds on to the adjacent elements, due to the way the CCD is read this causes a vertical line. The effect is known as smear. It is normal for all CCD's, how bad it is depends on the design.--Freeky

I was trying to take a pic of a candle with the 6900 (while Lit) and I wasn't having much success, in the end I got fed up trying and went to experiment on other things......Would you kindly post the pic so I can see how yours came out? or tell me what settings you used?

Regards

Just to add wieght to the "it happens on all 6900s" argument, I have had my camera for all of 48 hours and noticed the same effect last night when shooting some indoor photos. It is distracting, but at least it doesn't show up in the photos.

Hi James and all

And not just the 6900. If you look around the other forums you'll find this is a feature of all digicams. Some report a red wash which flows over the screen too.

...I have the same effect when shoot against bright spot-light with my 6900 too; but if I use no flash-the vertical streak is visible on the picture too!!I think that this is a lihgt-reflex from the lens(remarkable good otherwise)
