That's not been my understanding from reading the 1D/5D forum. Take the following thread as just one example, there's several contributors reporting flash underexposure with the 5D.it doesn't require any FEC as does the 20D and 30D.
Not the case in my experience. I've owned a 10D and a 300D and both underexposed flash when used with a 420EX, just as much as my current 20D underexposes with the 550EX flash. Also the 10D and previous models had no problem either.

look blownout and very shiney...much prefer the original.
Just IMHO...Jack
I presume that is high speed sync? Why would you suggest that?1. Change the ISO to 200 or 400. AND 2. Change the flash, by
hitting one button, so the icon that appears is the flash symbol
and the letter H. -Lisa

Whilst there will always be individual cameras which are calibrated
differently, a tendency to underexpose flash seems an inherent
feature of Canon metering.

--Nice job, EOSman!
How did you get this? Via Photoshop?

--By the way, a friend of mine advised me to buy a lens hood to get
the lens protected without having to use an UV filter or something
like that...
Now, should I remove it when taking indoor pictures or is it useless?
Cheers,
