PBase or Smugmug?

I do it all the time with Picasa 2, I just keep the originals in
Picassa and export all the photos that I am going to upload to
smugmug using a lower resolution setting or smaller size.

How do you seperate files, the ones you store and the ones you upload...I use PE 4.
