Can someone post a video from Sony DSC-W100?

Sorry to semi-hijack your thread, but I figure two for the price of one.

Or point me to some other than those mentioned below...

Really, I have not seen anything that I can truly judge by for this camera, other than the pictures at DCResource that are up pre-review. They look good, but "real world" would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I purchased this camera for a day and then returned it. I actually wasn't too dissapointed in it....just didn't seem to excel in any one area.

Images and Video

Just a heads up, the Video is on the best Quality, next to FINE. BUT, I couldn't even select FINE!!! It said this option is not available! I was using the internal memory which is a very generous size, i'm impressed by that.

The shots are all the ISO's, with the last shot being an ISO 80 with a couple second exposure.

The LONGSHUTTER was soooo nice, i wish all compacts had 30 second shutter settings......the aperature had two manual settings from what I could tell. That room is incredibly dark for the long shutter shot (actuallight1250ISO.jpg).

Hope this helps.

Pluses:

Very fast start time, slick look, nice viewfinder, nice menus and lcd screen (although a bit low res), iso shots are very clean, IMO at least, shutter control is very good, battery charger included, large sensor.

Cons:

Video is poor, easy to blur your shots, camera's auto mode defaults to high ISO's quite often, battery cover slides open easily, usb and avi chords are all one chord.

Overall: Found this camera to have very nice photos when care is taken to produce them (tripod will help a lot). ISO's were pretty good from what i've seen in other cameras, and the price isn't too bad.

Personally: probably going to go pickup the F10 and do my best to sell it when the F30 comes out. I just can't see anything beating f10's low light performance and large sensor with it's sharp, clear images.

Thanks for the samples - regarding video, I believe you have to have a "PRO" designated card in the slot to choose fine. Video would be better, for sure.

Welp....I picked up the F10 for a comparison camera to the W100 and overall, the Sony W100 has impressed me. To put it simply, compare the pictures from dcresource and it really does sum it up. My real concern was the poor video on the W100 and inability to choose the Fine Resolution....but perhaps that's cause i was using internal memory, so that problem should be solved. The pictures are 8 megapixel, shutter min is 30 seconds and the image quality is very very good. Sony it is!

Thanks for posting those. The night shots are a big reason i'm gettingt his cam, seems like it handles them very well (at least with long exposures). The day shots at first seemed a bit overexposed to me, but I gotta stop lookin at everything full res! Viewing them in xp's image viewer showed how good they really were. NIce posts, i'm off to grab the W100 for good this time.

Well I did it....got the W100 last night at CircuitCity..they even price matched a 5% discount from CompUSA.....I wanted to wait for the black model to come out......but my patience was worn thin........

I love the camera...well built and everything I expected it to be.....I hope to get to a place to post some photos soon....but am just learning the basics for now....I got the W100 after much deliberation over it's cousin the N1, but the W100 having a viewfinder was the deciding factor for me.....thanks everyone for your posts........

well I am trying to post to a web host site...but the problem of posting a movie in 640 fine resolution with my W100 is the file size....

a short hand held movie is 98.2 MB (102,986,252 bytes) and RapidShare says the download time is about 1 1/2 hours........so I think either this is true or I don't know what I am doing...which is quite possible......but like I said before, the movies that I have shot look wonderful...color and sharpness are pretty clear.....I am really impressed with the camera---No regrets.....

just to paraphrase the previous post re: Sony Manual for movies in "fine" mode....yes, without the big ProDuo card either a 1 gig or 2 gig I suppose, it will not record in fine mode...when I try to do this with internal memory only without a card in the camera, I get a message on the camera telling me this option is not available.......just what size card you need I am not sure of.....

Here ya goes! I purchased this camera, returned it, tried the F10, returned it, realized how nice the W100 really is, and got it again. Picked up 2 gig pro duo card (ouch my wallet) and I was then able to record in Fine Mode. I've uploaded Two videos:

Movie 30 : 50+ meg but it's in fine mode, and I'm very happy with the result.

Movie 48 : 7 meg and it's in standard mode....do not like the result too much :)

If anyone would like any specific video or pictures done, just replyto this thread and I'll get the up asap.
