I have decided to use viewer for raw processing. After trying with ACR and RSE, Olympus viewer colors are still better to my eyes. The only problem is that it takes too long to process each .orf in comparison to ACR or RSE. If I upgrade to Olympus Studio 1.5, will I get faster processing compared to viewer?

Perhaps the best opinion to trust would be your own....

Maybe you should download the latest 30 day trial and do a side by side for yourself ???

Cheers...

I would like to try it but can´t. I had previously installed the one that came on cd (ver 1.0) and it has since expired. I think I cannot install a new trial version. At that time I was not interested in RAW, so I didn´t think of comparing.

Probably the major advantage of studio is that you can batch process. Speed wise I recall it is a little faster but don't have any definitive figures. They do behave quite differently when redrawing previews in real time.

--With batch processing, you can set it, let it go and do something else
while the processing is being done. If someone sits there watching it,
then the utility is lost.

my results are excellent and although it is no speed demon, it accomplishes what I want it to.

the image edit program. The problem with batch processing is that you have to use the same raw settings on each file in the batch. What I do instead is open about 10 raw images in Image Edit, adjust the raw settings the way I want for each, do any other adjustments (curves, etc.), then use the save all command to save them all as jpegs. While its working on them you can have a cup of coffee if you want...but at least you don't have to wait on them one at a time.
