I've recently noticed that my mapping of tablet to screen appears to out of sync. I've run through the options, but can't fnd the solution.

The problem appears that the pen is working like a mouse ie: if I move it away from the tablet and then touch the tablet in another location the pointer moves from the last location (like a mouse), rather than the absolute reference point on the mapped tablet to screen - make sense?. I'm sure this used to happen, but after going through this for about 40 mins I'm beginning to think I'm losing the plot.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Strange. I've never had that happen. Have you tried reinstalling the Wacom software?

My memory is that the windows drivers allow you to select either relative or absolute mode, so it is an intended behaviour. There should be an option there somewhere in the tablet properties... johno

If you think that your tablet is behaving like a mouse maybe it is because you have checked that option. Actually the tablet can be configured like a tablet or like a mouse. Just go to the settings and check that.

Hope it helps.

Bob,

Unless I can find a setting that has been accidently changed I think I'll have to give that a try. I'm trying to remember if I switched to SP2 after the CS2 upgrade and if that had an impact.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestion. I think I've checked the settings correctly, but there's always room for error :-) I do remember there being a setting for the behavour of tablet/mouse, but I'm darned if I can find it at the moment. It really does look like a setting error rather than a corruption, but maybe a reinstall will clear things. I have resorted to the Wacom defaults, but to no avail.

Thanks for the input.

The location of the setting will vary depending on which tablet/driver you have. FWIW on an Intuous 9x12 Mac, when you have the driver control panel open, you select the pen, then select the mapping tab, and you'll see radio buttons to toggle btwn pen mode and mouse mode. Some of the wacom installs put this toggle on the popup menu that you can trigger from the sideswitch, which makes it easy to accidentally toggle btwn modes.

I have the Intuos 2 Wacom tablet, and it is a tab on the top right of the tablet, enables mouse or pen mode.

If you havent got this its probably in the software, in the control panel ( if yu are running windows, not sure about macs)

Managed to get the tablet working again as it should by disconnecting the second monitor. Not ideal, but it leads me to suspect there is a mapping issue involved. Strange as it's worked fine in the past. No settings were changed at all. Hmmm.

Thanks for the suggestion toadof.... about the mode switch on the tablet. I hadn't taken too much notice of it before, but my 4 year old loves to draw in PS and it's not beyond the realms of possibility that sometime he will switch modes without me noticing leading to a frantic half hour while I figure out what has happened :-)

Once again, I appreciate the help.
