Has anyone found a source of UV and polarizing filters that fit the CP950?

This question seems to come up every week. The answer is that there are no native filters available (yet) for the 28mm Nikon CP950 threads. You will need a step-up ring to take the 28mm threads up to 37mm. Check out http://www.ckcpower.com for a great aluminum step-up ring. Tom at CKC Power also sells filters at good prices and has a lens cap you can put on top of the 37mm filters. I think the prices are still:

Step-up ring = $23
Tiffen UV Filter=$6
Lens cap=$3

A circular polarizer is also available in 37mm.

You're right that they do stick out a bit. Not nearly as much as the TC-E2 tele lens that you hear about. With the TC-E2 you can't see through the view finder at all--even if your 950 is zoomed out out all the way.

With the step up ring and one filter attached, however, I can usually see through the viewfinder just fine. Even if I zoom out all the way, I can see roughly about 80% of the frame which lets me set the shot just fine.

[Of course, if you're really particular about this, you can usually use the LCD for framing shots (it shows more of the actual shot that going to be grabbed anyway), but bright daylight gives the LCD some visibility problems (hence all the inventions and slide viewer attachments you see).]

Anyway, back to the step-up ring...I don't really care how big the thing is as long as my Nikkor lens is protected. Sending the camera back for a replacement lens part is NOT something I ever want to do.

Keep in mind if your still using the original camera pouch that came with the 950, you'll need a clightly bigger bag to accomodate the extra width of the step-up ring and filter attachment.

I mean with the step-up and a filter, it must stick out a bit.

Thanks.
