Tripod what do you use?

I have the Dynatran 6703S. I know this is probably a import, but I have had it for a couple of years, and it is still serving me well. It is very sturdy, has a pistol grip ball head, and recently I wanted to get more mount plates and replacement rubber feet, and they were wonderful to deal with. The little feet were only about 4 bucks for a set of three, and the mount plates were about 4 bucks a piece. The shipping was cheap and I got them in a couple of days. Cant beat that for service! I would highly recommend them. Check it out at:

How much weight does the 1321 leveling base add to the combo? I am currently using a 1228 leveling tripod with the BH-55. I have been thinking of putting a BH-40 on the 1228 and moving the BH-55 to your combo. I would like to have the extra stability the 1325 offers when I don't have to carry it too far.

Not sure exactly what the 1321 weighs (and they don't list the weight on RRS where I bought it, nor on B&H), but it's a very small amount compared to the rest of the setup. (tripod, ballhead, D2x...)

I'll hazard a guess, and say the leveling base adds maybe a pound. It certainly weighs less than the tripod, which is 4.5lbs.

Thanks to both for the reply.

If you do not extend the last section, it is very sturdy but you need to hang some weight under the center column since it is also so light. It is surprising how stiff the legs are. It is the perfect tripod for hiking if you can afford it.

xtralight, just wondered what gear you use your 1155T with?

I have a Canon 5d, heaviest lens is the 24-70L, longest FL lens is the 70-300DO.

Do you think the 1155T is up to it? (I'm thinking of the Gitzo G1178M head to go with it.)

Also, did you get a chance to try the 1158T? It's the four-section brother of the 1155T. Folds down to 16" (without head) compared to the 1155T's 14" with the bundled head.

Welcome any thoughts and feedback on this tripod - so few seem to be out there.

Thanks

Gavin.
