Just a series to share from a fashion show over the weekend in Singapore at the Raffles City. Lots of good eye contact from this particular model  Shooting conditions were tough as it was raining heavily over the city area on sunday afternoon, leading to less than ideal lighting over the centre stage area (glass roof natural lighting). Shots were done without the use of an external flash.

Comments appreciated =)

Number 14 is a slight OT =p Not the same model hee... but I'm sure you guys wun mind seeing more of her as well?

Number 19 was overexposed due to the photo being captured at the same time as a fellow photographer's flash being fired off. Had to rescue it radically using the multiply tool. But I kind of like the end result as it looks sort of like one of the X-processed effects, with rich colors =p

Hope you enjoyed the photos.

most of them are really beautiful, you got an eye for composition. the lighting is really bad tho, the shadows on her eyes look very unnatural...
i think an ambient ext flash wouldve been nice for this.

nice shots bu the shadows make her look scary like Conans In the Yr 2000 skits with the flashlight under the chin

Regarding the awfull lightning situation, you did very well! :)
I like #3,13,18, with #20 beeing my absolute favorite.

The shots of the woman with the sunglasses have better lightning, but the glasses ruin them for me. :)
  1. 17 looks very odd because of the guy in the background. Looks as if the model had a leg too much or something.

Thanks for all the kind replies and useful advices. Will try using an external flash to illuminate the subject the next time I give fashion photography a shot. I usually prefer to shoot using available light as I find that using the flash tends to kill off the atmosphere/mood of the envirionment, leading to a brighly lit subject with a dim background.

Guess I still have a long way to go in terms of mastering the use of an external flash with a natural looking effect when there is no celling to bounce the light from.
