I have looked through the menus and manual and can not find a way to get a brief playback of a picture taken on my Fuji v10 so that I can quickly evaluate the shot. Is this an option with this camera?

It's in page 78-79 of the user manual. Note that unlike older generation Fuji, where you can preview the shot before writing to disk, currrent gen camera does not allow you to do this. I really want this feature back, it's absolutely crazy for them to take this feature out.

Not true, both the F10 and F11 have this feature.

Ahh, re-read your statement, you are referring to reviewing individual shots and choosing to keep the shot or not(write to disk) - not selectable shot review 'during' save. I believe the original poster was referring to the latter, and its selectability.
Really? That is news to me. Did they add this feature in a firmware
update? Because the user manual made no mention of this feature.

The F11 does have a brief shot review after you take the picture, for a second or two, while the the shot is being recorded; in either the F10 or the F11, you can always review your pictures after you take them.

The F10 apparently does not have this brief shot reveiw after the picture is taken, I am told the screen goes dark when you push the shutter button and then when it comes back up, its showing a real time image, ready for the next picture.

MY daughter has a Fuji 2400 and it writes to the card just like my F11. In order for a camera to not write to the card so you can decided whether you like the image or not, is not a great feature, the shot would have to stay in the buffer memory and almost any glitch or power down would lose the image! Its best for it to write to the card and then you can erase it if you dont like, Fuji has it right, IMO.

Nope, this is a very useful feature, because by switching to playback mode the camera resets several settings when you switch back to camera mode. Also, I take many shots in burst mode and RAW, it's nice to be able to preview it before writing to disk because they take up so much space and the many times I the shots did not turn out as expected.

You mentioned power failure right after a shot, this has never happened to me because the camera always gives you a low-battery light warning, which usually means there is more power it's good for few more flash pictures before the battery completely runs out.

Also, it's not like you cannot turn off this feature if you don't want it. On my F700, I can set it so it works like the current gen cameras, or I can set it so it ask me first before writing to disk.

The only reason I could think of that this feature is gone is because the memory buffer is not big enough to hold higher res image anymore.
