Kodak V610 2.8in LCD, Dual lens 6 Mp 10X Opt.zoom

I found the following information in Buy.com and shopbtl.com:

"KODAK EASYSHARE V610 2.8IN LCD DUAL LENS 6 MEGA PIXEL 10X OPT ZOOM". Mfg Part#: 8636763

shopbtl.com include a price: $466.92

Anybody has more information about this camera? It will have a continuos 10x lens and a wide angle or the 10x include a gap between the wide angle lens and the zoom?

looks fake unless kodak has something up there sleeve

...there are a number of vendors offering it for sale.

Anyone think this is to compete with Panasonic's new TX1??? A smaller body ultra-zoom style?

The TX1 is not an ultra compact though. That's what makes me skeptical about thus V610. A 10X zoom lens with an extra wide angle lens?

Its on several sites now...with no picture..I guess thats embargoed..

The V at the front of the number saddens me a like and lowers my hopes..

I have found valuable info on these threads and wished to return the favour by sharing a small scoop ;-)

A Norwegian version of the V610 instructions is available at:

Drawings of the camera are included; the layout of the V610 is identical to that of the V570, except for the larger lenses and for the larger LCD at the rear, which induces slightly different controls.

The main specs seem to be the following:
6Mp sensor
Wide: 38–114 mm, f/3,9–4,4
Tele: 130–380 mm, f/4,8

It also has a Bluetooth module (for transmission of the pics to a computer or to a mobile phone, for instance).

Everything is on page 74 and following of the manual.

I was on the market for a V570 but waiting for the specs of the V610 to be published since a (maybe better?) 6Mp sensor could have been nice, along with additional features.

But what I really want is a wide angle, and except the bulky Canon S80 (+S70/S60), hard-to-find Ricohs and poor-performing Samsungs, the V570 is the only compact to have that (and will apparently remain so!)
The Panasonics have wide angle only in 16/9, which is not my usual format.

I guess I'll buy a V570, then!

That menas that the tele lens (130–380 mm equiv., f/4,8) is very small!!!

Just saw a related article in about an application with the FCC for a bluetooth-enabled camera. In the FCC filing, part of the number on the motherboard was V610. Looks like it may be a V570-like camera but with bluetooth capabilities.

The lenses are larger, the lens cover slides to the opposite side, the LCD panel is bigger and the buttons on the right smaller.

The layout of the left buttons is also different.

The camera look really small, very thin!!... The Panasonic TZ1 with the lens extended look thick and bulk compared to the V610.

If this is real, I wonder why a camera with a SINGLE folded lens wasn't made before (the V570) by Kodak. The potential for a small long-zoom (without the additional wide angle lens) has been there for years.

The first camera I remember that has a folded lens is the Olympus 35mm film camera AF-Twin, that has 2 single focal lens. This camera is from the 80's. I an not sure, but Konica and/or Fuji made half frame camera in those yeras.

I believe that the first folded zoom lens implemented is the Minolta Dimage X, that started all the boom of small and thin cameras that include a lens that does not extend from camera body. The idea was sucessfull, but all these cameras has a 3x zoom lens. The new trend are cameras with extra zoom or 2 folded lenses. The Kodak V570 include an additional single focal wide angle lens, the Panasonic Lumix TZ-1 include a 10x lens and the Kodak V610 will include 2 3x lenses, that in total made an almost 10x equivalent lens.

One issue with these folded lenses is that they include an additional element that reflect the light in 45° angle, that could affect image quality
