I tried a small tripod and it does not balance with 20D.
Any of you guys know any tripod that will hold

Velbon has a nice, small tripod. Take a look at the Max-i series. They are sturdy enough for a 20D or 30D with a battery grip and a small/medium lens. You're a bit stuck if you want to use really heavy equipment. The regular Max-i series are rated for a suggested 2 kg, max 3 kg, with the ultra max-i rated for a suggested 3 kg and max 5 kg.

To give you an idea, I weighed the 30D with battery grip, 2 batteries, handstrap, and kirk acra plate in at 1.2-1.3 Kg, with the 100 mm Canon macro, the total comes out to around 1.9 Kg. That's about right as Canon says that lens is around 600 g. The 70-200 mm F/2.8L IS USM is around 1.5 Kg, so with the 1.3 of the camera you'd be running up against the max on most of these tripods. Still, that's a lot of lens for a compact tripod.

You can order from B&H and others. Price is around $100.

I was using the Velbon s-6000 it is a few years old.
When I had my 20d on there it felt like it would tip over at anytime.

So I bought the Bogen-Manfrotto 3021 Pro. Man it is great.
Highly recommend it.

The Bogen-manfrotto is well rated, but I've never seen the Velbon S-6000 you have. I can't find it anywhere on the web. They must have stopped making it. I'd be curious how it differs from the Max-i line.

My 347GB is plenty stable fully extended with about 2Kg of equipment on it.
