I bought my 707 last Friday at Best Buy. They gave me a decent price plus I got the 4 year warranty dealie for 60 bucks which is damn cheap protection. I've taken a couple hundred pix with it and frankly, haven't had one bad one that could be attributed to the camera. Sorry to disappoint many of you but I really don't have one thing to ***** or whine about. Best regards, Gary

I love my 707 too and for the record, wouldn't have known about BFS had I not read about it. I hope the rest of the silent majority who love their Dark Angel will speak out too beacause I think many people are probably getting a bad impression of her by reading many of the posts on this forum.

How about it? I say all those who love their 707 speak up.

Hi All,

I'm Ron and I too, love my 707! There, I've said it! :-) I posted about 3 weeks ago a thread entitled "Is the 707 really that good" Well, after having gone through 3 of them and a brief interlude (1 week) with the G2, I can honestly say YES, it is!! (that good) The picture quality is top notch. The colors, while a little saturated on the screen, (the reds) are dead on. They print oh so nicely on the Epson 1280. The speed and handling are leaps and bounds ahead of the G2 IMHO. The G2 does take nice, smooth images that are actually quite nice. Color is pretty good too. But when it comes to speed, it is no match for the Dark Angel. I also own an E-10 (which I absolutely love) and wanted a camera that wasn't so darn heavy. This camera feels good and takes great pictures. I have no major quibbles yet! Still trying to figure out my Photopoint account so I an post pictures.

One thing I've noticed over the last year or so is that most people tend to only post the negative aspects of a camera. In my mind, I always take these crticisms with a grain of salt. No camera is perfect. They all have shortcomings. With the E-10, it's the 1/640 max shuuter speed, the long review period, and the relatively limited buffer. WIth the 707 it's the lack of color saturation control, extreme reds and limited white balance controls. You can work around all these "shotcomings" Even the DIX is not perfect.

So, I say lets take some pics!

Kind regards,

Ron

Hello Everyone:
I've had my 707 since early October, and I really love it. I took it on a recent trip to Ireland instead of my 35mm Nikon, and was extremely impressed with its performance. Image quality from the 707 is incredible IMHO, and I really don't have any complaints at all (no BFS or any other problems). I also really like how this camera handles, as well as its image processing & AF speeds.

As with some others here, I can't understand some of the negative postings regarding this camera. I am definitely a "satisfied customer", and I intend to use this forum to improve my skills with the 707.

Regards,

BillD

My F707 has been working perfectly since I took it out of the box. None of the colors have been too bright so far. I did lots of tests with it, like slow exposures hunting for a bad pixel, low light, no light, back-lit scenes in full auto, shooting though mirrors to fool the autofocus - the thing just didn't give me one bad picture. Even with all the work I was doing, it took me a few days to use up the battery's first charge, though!

I love my 707 also. And YES!!!...what about that battery............I filled 2 MS with photos, at least a third using flash and still had battery power left!!

Not too many digital cameras can say that! I remember early on there were negative threads about the battery saying AA batteries were the way to go... NOT!!!!

I also remember the negative threads about the memory stick format..... I for the life of me can't understand what these folks are complaining about?

I spend more money in 1 week on soda and chips than is the difference between MS prices and Scan Disk prices... LOL

Enough already! As Shay has said, no camera is 100% perfect. In my opinion, the 707 is a GREAT camera! And I have over 500 great pictures to prove it! I am so glad I waited and spent my money on this camera........ still smiling in Maine............. Lenny

I just part exchd. my 505V for a 707. Whereas I was a bit dissapointed with the 505v, the 707 has been a wow! Better images than I had expected, good colours not OTT, and good low light performance, the autofocus even works in macro.

The only very minor criticism is the sheer power of the flash when it pops up, twice now I have jumped in surprise when the thing has exploded up out of the lens barrel, so vigorous that I can't believe the mechanism can stand the shock long term, still, I very rarely shoot in full auto so the flash stays down mostly.
It was a toss-up between 707 and e20, I think I made the right decision.

No BFS, no bad pictures that were'nt my own fault. I love my 707 also and am planning to take mucho pitchas that I otherwise wouldn't have. No more lost opprtunities to capture a special moment, event or something that just catches my eye. Have fun with yours too!

In the voice of the comic book man on the simpsons of course. Seriously though, I would recommend this camera to anyone looking to "make" great photo's. The camera has so many great and usable features that you just can't beat it. And if anyone want's to help turn the tide of the whiny posts, then give some thought to a great picture, go out and get it and then post it. You can't argue with success. So let's show em some successful photo's.

Ditto and Ditto again!

I have been lurking in this forum for several months. Finally bought my 707 this past weekend and couldn't be more pleased! No problems. Perfect pictures. Even my wife, who borders on technophobia, had no trouble using it the first time she picked it up. Can't wait for the weather to clear her in San Francisco so I can take some shots outdoors.

Hi GLP,

I received mine today.

And I think I need an other week at Crete, as I think using my beloved F505V I missed something not having the F707 at my side.

jacques

Mine got here last night. I've blown a day getting used to the camera and starting to take decent pix. So far, I've found some quirkiness around white balance and an annoyingly dim display when shooting in low light on manual, S, or A. What I have NOT found is BFS or psychedelic reds....

What I have found is a complex camera with a real learning curve and some wonderful capabilities. Sure, I'd like some adjustments, tweaks, and improvements... but overall, I like my f707 just fine..... hope that's not cognitive dissonance speaking for all you psych fans out there...

I particularly enjoy the flexibility of autofocus and the ability to control aperture.... result is the ability to enhance or drop out background at will. Very nice for portraits stuff.

I also like the movie mode... and the ability to use the TV as a composing screen (no black hood these days!.... a committee meeting instead!)

While I wish sony had really gotten it right, and was more forthcoming about what they DIDN'T get right, I have to say --- I really like my F707.

It really makes me feel good to see all of the positive postings. As some have said, "enough of the negative and let's take pictures!". Best regards to all. Gary in Kansas City

Ya know Shay, whenever I get to working a bit too long and need a break, I always (no kidding) turn to the Sony Talk Forum. However, I look for your posts first. You're always good for a chuckle, and quite frankly, it's a refreshing change from all the BFS and LEVBFS talk.

Not that I don't think it's important you understand, because I believe it is, it's just that I enjoy your posts, and always end up smiling when I get back to work.

Thanks

Bud (Griz)
