Lexar preloaded software

Lexar says on package "Copy the software (i. e. the preloaded Image Rescue) and manual files onto your computer before formatting this card". But gives no details on how to do that.

Through a card reader? I don't have one. Through the camera with the virgin CF in it and connected to PC? I tried: nothing happens, system only wants to download images, and I can't get it to "copy" anything from the card. I guess this is something basic, nonetheless I am stuck.

Yes! Get a card reader now.

.. I bought a card a few years ago and formatted it in my camera by accident. THey mailed me a CD in a few days with all the software on it. They were very good about it and had no problems sending me the stuff at no cost to me. I still use Lexar today.

It really is a lot easier and faster to transfer your photos using a good, fast, USB2.0 card reader anyhow.

And you can be using the camera while you've got a card in the reader too.

They're inexpensive so I highly recommend using one instead of connecting the camera each time.
