Today i noticed my shutter button felt wierd. Liek it clicks down to focus and then after that, theres no second click to take the picture it just gonna pushes in a bit.

I can't get it out of my head now everytime i take a picture, it feels really soft and strange.

Anyone else feel this? or is this jsut in my head and it was always like this?

I have what sound like the same issue. I have it on a 7D that I purchased in October (2005). Sometimes it works perfect (the AF ALWAYS works.....it is the second shutter actuation that fails. A lot of times it works better if I press on the outer edge of the shutter release...but sometimes it simply works only if or when it wants to. I called and emailed Phil at Minolta service...I could not get it in for repair because of the stupid Sony takeover. So I still have the problem. I was told to wait until the takeover took place....the problem is while I am waiting so is everyone else with a problem, I am thinking the wait is going to be a bummer.

One thing interesting....when I mentioned the problem to service, they said that it sounded "unusual"....implying that this is not a very common problem. I did a search here....you are the first person that I have heard of with a similar problem. I am annoyed because I just picked up a 28-75 lens, the anti-shake is being used just to fix the fiddling I have to do to fire the shutter.

Ah well.....if you figure out a fix....let me know. Try what I suggested (it sometimes helps).....press the outside edge of the shutter button. Good Luck!

No worries, however my shutter functions perfectly. It just feels wrong.

Like for some reason i recall the shutter having 2 clicks, one for the focus, and then again for the picture. But not theres one click for the focus and no click, just like this wierd soft feel for the shutter.

regardless, im sending it in for a all around check up during exams.

I have a kind of large list of things i want checked

Back focus, strange sounds from anti shake mechanism, soft shutter, and im going to try and get them to clean my CCD :)

I'm in Toronto Canada, so our minolta repair service is on a subway and a few buses away, plus no negative affects from the sony take over.

You had been asked what focus mode you had been using and you said auto focus... Well there are a few focus modes AF-A, AF-C, AF-M.. Try a re-set in the main menu and see if that will fix your issue... This will be easer then trying to tell you how to set a mode or figure out what mode your in... Hope this helps.

I said auto auto focus

And my issues is that my shutter FEELS soft, it works fine, just the feel of it seems to have deteriorated over time. It doesn't have the same click feel, as it once did.

thats all
