walkaround Lens..What do you use?

I have few cheaper len, but I too use Tamrom 28-75 f2.8 as walk
around len. I am not landscape photographer, but once awhile I do
run into few scenes I wanted wider angle (I do have 18-125) but
usually too lazy to change len just for one shot, so I often skip
it. I do see few landscape photographers post few beautiful wider
scene those made me hungry for sharp wider angle len.
get the Sigma 10-20 or Canon 10-22 as an addition to the 28-70. Neither is very large or heavy and would serve well for landscapes. They might also be fun to use for some around town shots where the utra-wide perspective can be used as a creative element.

If I bring one camera, 17-40 or 10-22,
two cameras, 10-22 and 24-105

Shoot.

Use this one most. Great range sharp and contrast.

Is my normal lens.

But today, after putting my 18-55 on for some flash tests to check out whining in another post on DPR, I left it on while going to the cell phone store.

(OFF TOPIC there is not one decent;ly designed cell phone, regardless of price, at my carrier's store)

I shot half a dozen pictures, one or two of whioch I might use on a web site, and Imust admit i missed the longer reach of the 24-135.

I wanted to take a picture of a seagull, and was too far away. On the other hand, why worry about a picture of a seagull?

That said...

(RE> I am thinking about getting the one that comes with the kit, the 18-55mm, is this an ok lens?

It's better than an OK lens, and it is the cheapest possible way of getting the 18mm focal length, which is pretty handy from time to time.

So, unless you buyy one of the 18-200 lenses that are available, buy the 18-55 in addition to anything else, if "anything else" starts at 24mm or longer.

I currently use the 24-70L as a walk around and on either full frame or 1.6crop it's a great lens. My brother uses the 17-40 that he loves.

However, I also use the 70-200LIS for sports and realy loke the IS feature. If I had to choose a walkaround now it would be the 24-105 IS or the EFS 17-55 2.8 IS if it leads up to its hype. The 17-55 appeals because of its weight and profile.

I just tested this lens against my Canon 50 2.5 Macro (one of the highest MTF lenses Canon makes) what I ususally use for table top product, and the Sigma zoom is almost equal to the Macro.

17-85. It's very versatile. As long as you stay away 17-22mm or so, the lens works quite well. If you shoot at f/8-f/11, it'll be very, very sharp. In the other ranges, it actually is pretty good except when shooting at f/4-0f/5.6. I think the lens has gotten a bad rap. Take at look at my web sites to see what the lens can do.
