Wanna see 707's digital zoom?

Nice example Tig. On the overcast sky shots, did you use auto or manual WB?

What are those huge supports in Dsc00281.jpg going to be for?

Thanks. I'm not sure myself but I'd guess it's a stadium being built and those supports will be for some sort of roof?

Do you mean manual preset using a white card?
Or the built-in outdoors/daylight setting?

I guess, but then you can always - in fact, you should always do so - take a 5X shot in the first place, shouldn't you?

Only then do you take the 10X digital zoom shot and compare and see which you'd prefer. :-)

Good example, the only thing I don't like about it is that your
making a crop right on the spot and can't change your mind later
like you could with a full sized 5X shot.
Don.

Yep, no need to be stingy with the pictures. Snap, snap...and one for the road...snap,snap,snap...ah why not...snap,snap,snap. There that ought to, snap, do it ;-)

Definitely!

This last shot is markedly better than can be obtained via Photoshop from the 5x one. But that, too, was only available at 1024 x 768 and may represent an unfair comparison treated this way — were these cropped or resampled for the Web?

It may be that there are greater benefits to be had in-camera if sharpening is likewise going to be done there. I think an interesting test (Photoshop vs. F707) would be two comparisons, one at 0 sharpening and one at -2.

But not the with that stingy 16MB MS Sony gave with the 707!!

Don't feel bad... ;-)

The pictures were not cropped (except - technically speaking - I suppose the 10X digital zoom shot which is done in-camera) but re-sized (no sharpening) to 1024 X 768 since they are not exactly beautiful photos, so I kept them to a smaller size for faster download.

Overcast day but Outdoor WB mode still selected anyway. Auto everything else. Handheld shot, might have been slightly sharper if this had been a tripod mounted shot.
