My long search is finally over. For years I have been searching for a slide show program that will let you do the following:-

1. Have high quality fades and dissolves plus other transition effects

2. Be able to sync precisely to a soundtrack so you change slides at important points in the soundtrack. This synchronization not changing when run on different machines.

3. Be able to generate single exe slide shows or screensavers

4. Be able to add high quality text and animations

Well I have found software that will do all the above plus:-

5. Allow you to include perfect scrolling panoramas in your show.

6. Have as many images on the screen at one time as you want.

7. Output to a video file if you wish

The software is Called GlobFX Presenter and is available from http://www.globfx.com

The program is pretty much like Adobe Premier but based on single images as opposed to video so is much easier to work with. And the interface is clear and simple. BUT just be patient with it, when I first downloaded it I thought the quality of the show was awful but a quick email to GlobFX pointed out that I might have out of date graphics drivers. A quick download off the net and I was away and have never looked back. You do need one of the later accelerated graphics cards mine is about three years old and it works fine.

I do not work or get paid by these people but am just so elated at this product. If you are into computer slide shows you must check this out. I used to have my heart set on Pictures2exe but GlobFX is better.

So the big question is how much, $49.99. Looks very good. Plenty of people are looking for software like this.

Yeah...GlobFx is just great... - NOT!

This would be --fine-- if all your friends and intended recipients of your show had cutting edge PCs. But... I couldn't even get the Space demo screensaver to run on my PII-450 with an "older" Diamond Starfighter AGP video card. The software pretty well says it's written for only the newer more sophisticated cards. Not all of us are among the -elite-.

From what I can tell, it also requires you to download a player to run the slideshows. I rather like Pictures-to-Exe which requires --nothing-- be installed to the users machine. Make a show, burn it to a CD, be sure to include an autorun file and you have a self-contained CD that grandma could run. OK, it may not have the "pizzaz" of a GlobFx show and presently lacks the tight sync I'd like, but hey... it's simple, it works on almost any machine, and it get the job done. GlobFx might be snazzy and if your own machine is the only one you'll be running the show on..fine, I guess. But for my needs, Pictures-to-Exe is the choice for now.

GlobFx only for the elite? That I don't understand, with accelerated graphics cards available at only $50 USD or your abiliity to output to Video Tape this program is not for the elite. I feel resistance to change is the big problem here..

So, being the expert, do you have to install a program locally to view the pictures or is it like pix to EXE where you don't have to have local programming.

The reason I ask is that many people I know who would view CDs can't install programs locally.

I didn't know the answer to this question so I transferred a GlobFX exe presentation to a CD, renamed all the globfx directories and programs on my hardrive so it couldn't find them then tried to run the exe from the cd.

Worked fine so in other other words the playing software is built into into the exe. This makes the file a bit bigger but you can export the shows as GlobFX movies which are a lot smaller but need to have the player installed on your PC to them run them.

So you can I guess have the best of both worlds.

P.S. I'm no expert but this software is exciting and the more you use it the more potential you see it has. For any body wanting to spend $50 plus say another $50 to upgrade your graphics card (if required) you will be rewarded with a program that does all that you have ever wanted...

Andrew,

Your new found program sounds interesting...provided I have the correct hardware ...Does a normal computor have any of the right videocards or maybe I should ask What doesn't work? & Would you be so kind to answer another a quick question? Will the finished product play full screen on the computor?. I use a dual screen attachment to capture the "slideshow" as a movie on VHS tape. It sure would be great to have all the bells and whistles in my presentation, too. The missionaries and their churches are not up to CD's yet. Thanks in advance.

Regarding you graphics card all you need to know can be found here:-
http://www.globfx.com/support/drivers/

Yes the software plays full screen to.

I was up to all hours last night playing around with GlobFX in the end I had a show that in one part had this panorama scrolling smoothly across the background and then I was able to have three seperate images zoom out pf the panorama as it continued to scroll, this is just an example of GlobFX's versatility.

The other thing I think you may need is a bit of memory, I run 128megs which is pretty common today.

Hope that helps
