D7 down under

The nature's wonders were DIVU-processed, the other two galleries straight through Photoshop. Since I discovered BruceRGB (thanks to someone in this forum) I don't use DIVU anymore: I just assign the BruceRGB profile when opening, and convert to sRGB when done. Post-processing is mostly contrast enhancement with curves (I usually shot at contrast=-1, sharpness=-2 settings) and just a touch of sharpening. Some of the posted photos were finalised on my work machine which is set only to 16-bit color depth and only roughly calibrated, so they may be a bit off.
what post processing do you do and do you use DIVU?

Roland,

I like your photos very much. Sharpening seems to work especially well for the architecture shots.

I am always afraid to oversharpen, especially for the web. People may be looking at the pictures at different resolutions, and if I sharpen the 1280x960 imagel, it won't look good at 800x600. I'm usually more aggresive when printing, but sometimes really prefer the soft look.
Hi Vector,

I believe you don’t used sharpening but it looks great….

I sharpen the pictures all most of the time, see

When you mention sharpening are your refering to the adjustment in the camera or post processing in Photoshop?

We've seen a lot of autumn color here, how about some spring sun?

Vector,

Nepean Point must be a magical place and you have captured it. I was looking at the exposures and I was quite suprised at how high some of the shutter speeds were. For example, Nepean 971 was 1/1024 f/8, Asa 100. I would have expected ASA 400 for that exposure. Were you underexposing on purpose?

Marty,

Yes, I had a few shots somewhat underexposed and this is one of them. The day was extremely bright, shots taken early in the afternoon (around 2-3pm), a lot of them shot into the sun, for example to capture light reflections in the water, and I have just discovered the wonders of exposure compensation...

Most of the shots were taken in the aperture priority mode, so it was the camera making the decision, bar the EV setting. I much prefer it this way than having the highlights blown out, as the shadow detail is usually excellent.

On a previous occasion I have been exposing "properly" and a lot of pictures had highlights completely blown out, so now I'm a bit wary, especially in high contrast situations.

In preparation for the summer I guess it's time to look for a couple of decent ND filters. Any tips?

Thanks Nicole,

These pictures are sharpen by Paint Shop Pro 7, crop by Photoshop 5.0.
and an other way to sharpen is the DIVU
frequency to be emphasized : 3
degree to be emphasized : 2

I haven't figured it out what is better

Most of the pictures are taken during my vacation in espana
and haven't write the settings down.
Most of the setttings are set by comparison
what you see and wat you see through the Ev.
But I will look at it and post this as soon as posible.

met vriendelijke groet, (dutch for with regards :-)
