Perhaps you were right about it being wrong to compare you to that other photographer (whom I profoundly admire and respect), people truly shouldn't be compared to each other, although one can note comparable elements.

Besides, that person might start to suffer in the comparison... :^)

Hi Jody,

More productive ?

IMHO you are just on a discovery tour. Playing with light, playing with your vision, I think, no must write know, it will have it's payoff.

Well I feel the weird things I do so now and then, well may quite often, just opens my mind, we aren't bound to rules, we are totaly free to go on this kind of discovery journeys.

This one I do like, as it crossing some border.

This is exceptional! Different is one thing, good is another. Different and good is rare, and this is both.

Hi Jody, I love it, I like the hint of color also, no need to "shh", some of our best work comes from "just playing", your picture has pruduced the goods...so therefore I would think it WAS productive ;-). Cheers

There you go again, giving me way too much credit. I appreciate it though, I really do..

I'm glad that you like it, but just so you know... It's not like I set it up or anything, I just saw it and it worked.. I wouldn't exactly call that skill.. I would call that luck.. :)

Well what I meant Jacques by "more productive" was .. not necessarily more productive in my eyes but my eyes are not the only ones that matter. The laundry does not, after all, fold itself :)

I hope that it pays off Jacques.. or perhaps it's just something I'm seeing right now, of little importance.. Time will tell.
I do love crossing borders Jacques, that's how I learn.

Generally I crop by instinct only.. and I usually stick with my first crop. I guess its not a very skillful way of doing that.. Maybe I'll mess around with the crop..

Hi Jody,

There, you've put your finger on a true photographic skill....

You saw it.

Likely saw it had the potential of working,

and you made it work.

That was no one else, that was you. Photographers need to be able to see things. All the technical skill in the world cannot bring that about. (And trust me, if often doesn't.) And whatever skill level you've developed, you were able to make what you saw work.

You might doubt me, but I don't...
