Help with blurry pics from exz750

Just as a test, I just took a photo in Macro Mode. I then loaded it into the Exif Reader, and it says Focus Mode - Macro. The blurry ones I posted say Focus Mode - Auto Focus, so I don't think that's it. I was hoping it was that simple. I'm going to take the camera out this weekend and just shoot away and see if I can get some more blurry shots. If so, I think I'm going to send it in for service and see what they say. I'll let you know what happens!

Even setting to macro mode won't mess up focus on the Z750. If it doesn't find anything closeup to focus on, it will automatically focus on the distant objects. Macro mode simply causes it to attempt a macro focus first thus slowing it down a little bit.

well I took about 60+ shots this weekend. The only ones that were blurry were ones where the shutter speed was 1/25 or less. I was almost hoping that I would have blurry shots so it would be a no-brainer and I'd just send it in for service. I think I'm going to try to continue to test it as much as possible to see if it happens again.

Wendy1, I am having exactly the same problem. Mine started after 6 months of successful pics. Did you find the problem or send it in to be repaired? I think it's a mechanical problem with the focus since the green focus light is on.

It's most likely because you had condensation on your lens. You look like you were at a resort. Many times you camera will come from a low humidity location like your hotel room or lobby to outside. You take out your camera and shoot a shot and get crappy results.

Reason...there is condensation all over your lens. You wont notice unless you look at the lens. Usually takes a few minutes with less cover off until it goes away.

problem solved.

I'm fairly certain that's not it. I actually stayed with a friend of mine and we didn't have the AC on the entire time I was there. When these shots were taken, we'd already been outside for an hour or so and it wasn't that humid while I was there.

hello. i had the same problem on a vacation i took this past week. some pictures came out amazingly clear and some came out blurry.

after playing with the camera and trying to figure out why i think i figured it out.

when i power the camera on and try to take a picture, the green ready light blinks, it allows you to take the picture but the pictures come out blurry. i then noticed that when i power the camera on, and adjust the zoom to where i want it, the green ready light comes on but stays on and doesnt blink. i take the picture and the picture comes out clear as day.
i am not sure why it does it, but it does it.

i have gone around the house taking hundreds of photos putting this to the test and sure enough, when i power the camera on and take a picture without adjusting the zoom, the green ready light blinks and the picture comes out blurry. when i power the camera on and adjust the zoom the green ready light stays on and the the picture comes out clear.

i hope this helps you as i have also been racking my brain trying to figure it out.

regards,
J

I had the same problem with my z750. It was completely random, too. Yes quick shutter was off and yes it showed up as in focus. Still came out blurry though. Now that I think of it though I haven't had the problem since upgrading to firmware 1.02. Maybe that fixed it.

I started another thread about this just last week (sorry, couldn't find this one):

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1015&message=17881012

All my settings and tests are fully described there, but my conclusion is that in snapshot mode, without the flash firing, 38mm (wide) zoom shots all come out blurred.

I took 10 photos at different distances from a nice high contrast, static subject, first at 38mm then at 46mm equivalent (next step up). All the 38mm ones are blurred, all the 46mm ones are sharp.

It's not due to moving the zoom because I was doing plenty of that during my tests, I wasn't especially nervous on the shutter button either (if it had been an issue, the 5 sharp images would have been blurred)

Your sharp photos, did you zoom in slightly? That information is included on the EXIF.

Casio UK are looking into this for me, I think I'll email them this thread, they said they'd get back to me on Monday.

Other 750 owners out there, could you possibly do a similar test, to see if this is a chronic problem or limited to an unlucky few? TIA!

i updated my firmware to version 1.2 but it still does the same thing.

i now know i just have to adjust the zoom to get the steady green light and take the pic

I dropped the camera off at the post office last Tuesday to send it back to Casio and called this morning to make sure it got there. They said it was shipping back to me today. Apparently they replaced the CCD. Hopefully that fixed the problem. I'm pretty impressed with their turnaround time.

Tis is a shot I took during one of my many tests to duplicate the focus problem. Do you think the shallow depth of field is related to the focus problem or is that really possible from the camera? This photo was taken at 1/320 f6.0 @ 16.60 mm.

I just got back my 750 from Casio repair. After only 1 week. I sent it in because it gave blurry pics when in full zoom.. ... I am excited to report that the first tests, came away with great shots at full zoom. Looks like Casio did their job. Hope you get similar satisfaction.

I got the camera back today. I'm very impressed with the turnaround time since I mailed it last Tuesday and had it back in my hands this Tuesday. It was shipped with a piece of paper that said they replaced the lens assembly. I'll test it out well this weekend.
