OK. I promise this will be the last post with the same old bees on the same old flowers.
This just gives a good look at what precapture can do for you.

This was taken in single shot mode with the precapture on for 5 frames at 7.5fps.

You basically half press and focus on the bee while he's working on the flower, shift the

frame a bit, and snap when you see him fly away. There's really no good way to anticipate

when the little feller's going to take off, and when they do their off like a rocket.

These five frames are the precapture frames that came before the actual "normal" frame

that of course has no bee in it. That's all I would have gotten with the 2100. This is the 2/3'rds
of a second before the "missed" shot.

It almost is cheating - but I can learn to live with that.

dvt43,

My sister-in-law told me today that she was doing her Christmas shopping next week and wanted me to tell her what I wanted for my gift. hehe. (You know where this is going don't you?) She is used to giving me cash to buy my gift because it is usually some esoteric piece of computer hardware or other obscure toy. I told her there was this lens I have become fascinated with. She told me to spare her the details....it will be cash again this Christmas!

Please, keep the B-macro shots coming!

Jim

Only 44 days till Christmas!

I not only want a B Macro lens ...but now I'm also starting to want an
E-100. It would be great for wakeboarding and snowboarding shots...
hmmm.... this forum is starting to get to be very expensive for me!
Doreen
...my brother's aunt Gwen sez the E-100 and the B-Macro are both discontinued, and remaining stock will be sold first come, first serve, to members of the Oly SLR Forum only...an' ya can take that ta tha bank!...

Pannic now and avoid the rush.

I cant recomend the e100 enough. The only supprise semi dissapointment
so far is the extra EVF lag in precapture mode - but I think I can live with it.

Check uot the NY camera deal and justify it as getting a great bargin.
Hey, I'm just about to head off to B+H Photo, dragging my Visa card kicking
and screaming. I know your pain.

Absolutely!

ok.. now I am wondering HOW you keep getting shots of that bee! Is he tethered to your camera? Do you have that poor flower and bee in a cage? Do you live in a beehive?

These are the last remaning flowers around the house that the bees
still go to. If I'm home for lunch and the sun's out and it's warm enough
I can take a few minutes to take some shots. I'm really sorry that this is
opportunity is just about to dissapear (it might have as of yesterday). I'm
having so much fun with it.
The amazing thing about the e100 is how easy it can make getting these
kinds of shots. These are just my first efforts with this setup, and have had
very little time to devote to it. And these guys are just plain hard subjects.
With another camera i'd come away with 0 in flight shots.
Now I just can't wait for spring so I can realy get to it!

Dave

Hi
This may seem obvious to most but illogical to me.

My question is....if you are in precapture mode and you can't use flash do you have to go back to menu to be able to take a single shot with or without flash.
thanks Gerry

Hi Gerry,

I think the answer is yes, you have to go to the menu.

Bit of a bummer, but I think this is where the dreaded reset feature might come in handy :-)

Cheers,
Ruli

Thanks, I was afraid you were going to say that. Don't. like that reset sw. Its really too bad they didn't. think to put an option on "drive button" You would have thought they could switch sequence for single shot. Just confirms my theory that top design engineers for consumer products are little old ladies that draw cards out of a hat.
