New F700 for $99, a good deal ?

I just spoke to a Fuji rep in us about this camera, he said their was major recall on this one because of defective sony ccd chips and they were all replaced, he didnt know with what.

Couldnt stop talking about what a great camera this was.

Curtis, I really wouldnt know outside of this conversation..........sure is possible the rep was full of it, he seemed to know alot about it, said he took it on his honeymoon cruise and was stoked about it. Is it still possible he was correct, in that they could have had the sony ccd in thier right at the begining, made a run or two and discovered the problem or noticed the defective sensor in other cams using the same sensor and quickly corrected it with their own ccd.

mine works also.

and mine is a 42A model.

i think the newer ones should work. fuji usa says it doesn't, fuji canada says it needs a firmware update
Just received mine also. Inspected it carefully and it appears to
be brand new. It is perfect and I don't see anywhere on the box or
camera where it says refurbished or reconditioned. The box and
camera look new to me. What a great deal for $99 plus shipping. By
the way I had a 1GB Olympus XD (from another camera) card and it
works perfectly in this camera although the Fuji compatability
chart says only up to 512MB. Does anyone know if this will cause
any malfunction?

I'm having occasional Write or Read errors, I think only happen when having large video capture files in the card. But I'm not sure if it is the xD card, the camera or what.

and we have new cameras. what are your serials? i'm guessing they're earlier than ours

Interesting.

My guess is that the refurbished ones were given the firmware upgrade when they serviced them.
I'm glad to see the H type is supported as well.
Tomorrow monday my Type H 1GB arrives, so I'll know what is the deal here.
Thanks fot the link Sean.

you would think they have the same camera? anyway, do you have an
early serial, or later? i'm guessing later serial numbers have more
updated firmware
