OK. I got a friend to try to get a Sigma 24-135 through an auction that started at $.99 and had no reserve. I wondered how good Cameta Auction was, especially after we won the auction at a gross (including shipping) of just a few cents over 195 bucks. This is a $339 lens.

Well, we've both been busy, so it wasn't until this morning I discovered it had arrived Monday.

No extra sales chats or messages, and it was a new lens in new wrap.

I hope to get time to shoot a few shots today. Like in two minutes. I've also got some wireless flash set ups to check.

By the way, I saw another Cameta Auction lens go for 9 bucks less than what I paid, and they had a couple more up on the same kind of auction terms. All I can figure is that they fell into some kind of special deal, because otherwise, they are losing money on these deals.

I live local to Cameta and can say that they are indeed excellent. They are a well established business that I have personally dealt with for over 15 years. Actually I was suprised when I first saw them on Ebay.

Yep, I picked up my Sigma 28- 70 from them - it was hundreds less than the suggested manufacuturers price. While they initially sent me a lens incompatable with the Pentax body, the issue was resolved qucikly and without hassle - they will definitely get my future business.

Just did a search to see what merchandise this guy carries

why would any seller on eBay pay the extra fees to list as an auction AND BIN at the same price ??? a fixed price listing is the cheapest rate on the list

furthermore, what schmuck would bid , rather than just take the BIN at SAME price ..what am I missing here??

I have no idea, but that's not the auction I got my lens on. Started at 99 cents, no reserve, went to $180 and change. Shipping 12 bucks. Arrived on time, as described, in good condition. I saw a similar auction end at $172.50, and there were 2 more going. This lens sells at B&H for $339 plus shipping.
