I can't believe I am paying as much for a V3 on Ebay as I did from Dell when they were still in production.

That speaks volumes about this camera. I saw people CLAMORING to buy USED V3's for $400 and higher this past week!! Amazing.

I paid $418 shipped, from Dell about 10 months ago maybe?

Sigh...I waited as long as I could, but since it looks like they won't be continuing the line, I bit the bullet. And worth every penny.
 
New in box or is that like an open item maybe?
 
New, they still have 5 with $599 price tag, they said its' discounted to 499. The display is not on sale...the open box or returned is $474.
 
and now that it has been discontinued, it is not being discounted. I would never sell the V3, well at least till I had tried the V4.

The V3's nice metal frame and quality construction, not to mention outstanding image quality sets it apart from the others.

Yes yes the best cameras are always the first which are discontinued, because the customer crowd wants cheap big-zoom cameras and knows nothing whats the purpose of a hot shoe. So if a gooid camera is there, be sure to buy one before its discontinued

OK, having owned both of these fine machines, I think I can respond to this with some balance.

IS is very very nice...for the H1, but not needed for a 4x zoom camera.

If choosing between an image from a V3 at 4x zoom (no IS) and an image from an H1 at 4x zoom (IS), I can assure you in almost every case I would pick the V3 image.

Not to say the H1 still won't have it's place (otherwise I would have sold it by now)...just that it's not really in the same ballpark as V3 in terms of image quality imo.

where did you see it for $370???

I just got one a week ago at a Sony store-they only had two left. When I called they told me $499-but when I got there another guy looked up the "going price on the internet" and sold it to me for $419........so $370 is very good price (if its legit)......

I notice the price went down about 1-2 months ago and now it went back up....and I still haven't got it...:(
 
No, that price is probably right...probably closing them out. I bought mine new in box for $400 as well.

I think it may be the first non-organic thing I have ever kissed (multiple times).

Ahhhh....good to have you back again V3!!! I missed you so much! :D
