I use Photoshop 6.0 with my cp995 mainly to make some minor level and curves adjustments. I also use PS to apply certain iNova filters and to convert colour pictures to B&W.

Reading on Photoshop several autors strongly advise to work in Adobe RGB space in stead of the Photoshop default (sRGB i guess).

My question: does it make sense (when and and why?) to work in Adobe RGB color space knowing that my CP995 only captures sRGB images?

I hope someone can give me some advise on this.

The conventional wisdom seems to be, if your output is going to a CRT i.e. you're posting images on the net use sRGB, if your output is going to a good printer use Adobe. Does the 995 allow you to choose the Adobe RGB space? My 990 doesn't. If it doesn't then you won't see any benefit in changing the working space to Adobe RGB. If you understand the term 'gamut' then the difference is Abobe RGB has a bigger gamut (covers a wider range of the color space). But if it's not in the image that comes out of the camera, using a bigger color space won't put data in that isn't there in the first place.

Bruce,

Thanks for joining.
No Bruce, the Coolpix 995 does not allow the selection of Adobe RGB.

But I also started this discussion in the Nikon Forum. Got some very interesting replies there. Especialy the reply from Jon Tilbury who says the Coolpixes (990 as well!!) capture more than sRGB!
Check the Nikon Forum if you are interested.
