hi guys

in http://www.nikonclubitalia.it/ there are a lot of threads regarding nikon D200 problems:
  • shutter lock after few shots
  • sensor problem (not only banding)
it seems that Nikon will make a NEW version of D200 in a little

have you got infos ?

bye Paolo

There is nothing official about that forum....

But it would not surprise me if Nikon puts a new D200 based camera on the market very soon, with a different sensor / image output system.

New D200 ??

How soon could they put something out without giving the impression that they've ditched the original D200. The D200 is still in short supply i.e. it just come out !!

I doubt very much we'd see something this year,

Can anyone remember the time frames between the D70 and D70s and the D2H and the D2Hs ??

It was certainly more tan a year between the D70 and the D70s... probably two years.

But I believe the D200 will be a different situation. We will see...

It is not. The D70 was told to suffer intens off moire ad BGLOD.

I think the forums have a tendency to enlarge problems much.

Of all things i've lost, i miss my mind the most.

Moire is also the effect of one of the most highly praised features in the D70 - sharpness. So it's not a flaw in itself...

As I've understood the situation, Nikon did make some adjustments in the production of the D70 in order to eliminate BGLOD. I.e. they fixed it!

No need to put aside the possibility of Nikon mending the banding :) I'd love that, personally!

The D200 is a great camera, I don't see any reason to come up with a D200s if no new features are announced with the 's'

The banding issue, affecting an unknown number of D200 units, is a minor inconvenience if Nikon comes up with a 100% fix, one of my friend has a D200 and has noticed type 1 banding in just 1 shot out of 5000, he's not at all concerned with it. On the other hand, everybody seems to praise the D200 for its construction, but the rubber coating of his D200 starts peeling off (looks like the gold glue problem...) and his battery door broke, so he's sending his camera for service but no way he's even going to mention banding...

I've read the entire Italian thread. It seems to be just word of mouth from a dealer willing to sell an in-stock plus more expensive D2X instead of an out-of-stock cheap D200...

Local importers in Italy (not to mention dealers) are certainly not the first ones to know. In the thread there are several hidden quotes of past dpreview "revelations" (10.8 MPix D200s) and of KR "reviews"... LOL

In addition that 3D was very old (more than 1 month ago) and the initiator told the very same old story: "...a friend of mine told me that Nital (Nikon Italy) send him an official statement and bla bla bla..."
Nothing new.

probably you are right but what about a lot of owners (proportioned to the small amount of D200 sold) have their D200 in assistance for shutter failures ?

One or two cases in that forum?...the vast majority of D200 owners seems happy...even in Italy.

The problems listed at the top of this listing (along with banding) do not require a new camera, just a software uprev.unless it is a problem with the single camera, not all of the D200. I got my D100 in it's first week and remember having to send it to KY for the new software rev, if the problems listed are problems for ALL or most of the D200 (vs only a few), they Nikon should do a new software rev, NOT a new camera. When the D70 when to the D70s, there was some big hardward changes (the LCD size) I have had my D200 for 5 days, and not have any problems. and the only complant I read is the fact that it is not FF.

If there was a problem with the camera locking up or the other items listed, why is this fourm not full of flames about them?

my 2 cents worth
